  3. I had this in the beginning too, but I got used to it after exploring multiple AI websites and ways it can be used in. Yeah, it's scary. But it's going to be an important part of the new world we live in.

  4. sounds like I won't use it, then. I want something with LESS guardrails than GPT-4, not more. The ones that are there are already a hindrance, so I imagine I'd be even more annoyed at Gemini. I'd gladly take something a bit worse but with little noticeable censorship. GPT-4 is... good enough, I guess. But more would be too much.

It's a great tool, but as for everything, state-of-the-art AIs these days are only sometimes enough to do the task for you entirely, and mostly, they're mostly like an assistant, they do quite a bit of the dirty work for you, but you are the brain, and you have to understand your shit or else it will go off the rails. That being said it could change very fast.

  6.  @gorkyd7912  you have to keep finding clever workarounds to get what you want. There's tools for that, such as inpainting, which is essentially asking the AI to redraw part of the image. More advanced tools are there (like ControlNet) and will yet be coming. But yeah, generating AI images is currently retrying a lot with slightly different parameters, and sometimes it just doesn't do what you want for whatever reason. Which I guess is good, since it remains a tool for you and doesn't just entirely do everything for you (although it is a deeply confusing tool lol)

  9. I'm eagerly waiting for some viable alternative. There's already fully or at least mostly uncensored AI text generators, but nothing on the level of ChatGPT, or even close to it, and most alternatives which appear (e.g. Claude AI) seem to be equally as bad when it comes to restrictiveness, if not worse. I guess we just have to wait more, and keep an eye out for interesting stuff

  10. I see it more as a tool to use to generate content when you don't have the money to buy it, or talent (and time) to do it yourself. Whether you call it "art" or not is semantics, really, I've seen lots of people be disturbed by equating AI art to normal art. I personally don't see an issue with it. The process is vastly different, and right now, so is the outcome, but it is just a different way to do it. I don't think it should be discounted as just another novelty. It could be there to stay

  11. yeah, I agree. I'm not an artist myself, but artists are generally also reluctant to use AI as a tool because it takes the joy out of their creative process. That's the big caveat with AI imo. I think the potential benefits of creating art on the trot for free or basically nothing compared to what you'd have to pay to an actual artist are amazing for small developers who would otherwise not have the money to bring their project to fruition. I welcome that, because otherwise, my hobby project for game creation would never see the day of light - AI art was the last piece of the puzzle to make any of it possible. I'd still prefer to pay an actual artist for many reasons, but AI now is an alternative which doesn't suck and is actually decent. But yeah, what it will mean for our creativity and the way we see art is different gravy. AI will fundamentally change our world in general. Remains to be seen if for the better or for the worse overall. Seems like it will be both in some ways.

Like GPT-4 alone covers most of your needs and many apps just re-package it and offer you a service which you can already get from GPT-4. Do use it though, the 20 bucks is a bargain for how much it can do. Other than that, you only need anything else if you want to escape censorship

  16. actually that's pretty spot on. ChatGPT is like something that won't do the thinking for you but will give you some solutions which may or may not be good, and will give you at least something if you're stuck, so you never feel like you're entirely alone.

  17. It's interesting how people's approaches differ. I, for one, would have no issue whatsoever listening to stuff made by AI if it sounded good. The issue is rather that it is still pretty far away from sounding good enough. I listen for the melody, not the story behind it. But I agree that AI art should be labeled as such at all times to avoid confusion/misinformation

Though it will probably be better in more ways than Claude is. But definitely not a replacement imo. That's my hunch about it. What I really want is GPT-5

  22.  @petrorlov2599  I wouldn't say so, they seem pretty much equal to me. And AI Dungeon has better pricing with a free plan. It's pretty good if you're willing to take some time to edit stuff out and re-generate. That being said, I'd gladly move if there was an unfiltered ChatGPT-like AI somewhere. It's coming eventually. There's already stuff like Starbyte AI Anyone and Subspace, but it's early stages yet. Still, they're both GPT-like, and certainly feel like they're not far off from being immersive without any kind of editing/refreshing. Certainly keeping my eye for it. For someone used to AIs like Cleverbot, AI Dungeon tier of stuff has already been a massive step up and I still love it, but it's clear we can do even better now

  23.  @LinkEX  Capitalism, imo, is like democracy. It has obvious drawbacks, but out of all we tried, it's the best option. Just regulate it and don't do it like America does by letting companies have too much power. I don't deny capitalism is indeed a shitshow, and don't think anyone can, but it had proven advantages, which other systems (such as the most mentioned one, communism) don't.

Nevertheless, it is a bit sus when they refuse to share their technology, and heavily filter it in a way which e.g. promotes certain political viewpoints more than others. Sure, it's important it doesn't get used for illegal stuff, but also could help so much in positive ways if it'd be made open source

  28.  @dhirajpallin2572  that is spot on, yeah, I've just landed on doing that as my go to method as I'm making a HTML game right now without any prior knowledge of JS, HTML, CSS. Sometimes, it will just give you the right answer, but you shouldn't expect it to, instead, use it to nudge you in the right direction. Or, if you already want to know more or less what you want to implement and how, it often does it well enough. But it is certainly not going to replace your thinking process. Sadly. I wish I could just stop thinking and let AI live my entire life for me. Praise Skynet!
