I don't understand why they just don't keep breeding American chestnut trees together and keep the ones that show blight resistance. I know this will probably take15 years for each Chestnut trees cycle then after about 10 times of breeding them in about 150 years you should have a blight resistant American Chestnut

well the the video said they were less sweet, I have had both or I had a huge chestnuts I bought from the grocery store in the USA, I think they were from Italy and they were sweet , to me it tatsed like a nutty sweet potato after I cooked it

the reason a lot of things were made of Chestnut is because AFTER the blight started there was a SURPLUS of dead Chestnut wood there were trains full of nothing but Chestnut trees going to the lumber mill, while they were alive they did provide much needed food for Appalachia though
