ASUS RT-AXE7800 or something similar, preferrably. Key feature: Tri-Band 6GHz Wifi 6E. The E is important. Alternatively, Wifi 7 will also do, but it MUST be 6GHz AND feature Tri-Band.
To e fair, I still have to upgrade to that and am running a Speedport Smart 1 from around 2015 as AP (in fact, multiple, 'cos they're very inexpensive to get used and retail price was just 120€ if you bought them instead of renting) that only does Wifi 5, so basically the good old 5GHz 866MBit/s treat. If it's in the same room, ideally with LOS and everything is wired up nicely with GBE infrastructure and Cat 5e cables, that will be running well enough already and 120+ MBit/s in Virtual Desktop should be possible without issues (which is what it is for me). BTW that's an ISP router in Germany from the Telekom (you guys may know them as T-Mobile, same company).
Wifi 6 brings slightly better latencies, 6E then allows for better bitrates while lowering the latencies even more. With that, you can do 400MBit/s or more under good conditions.
I'm using Virtual Desktop exclusively. It's the best way to do anything PCVR with any of the Quest headsets. Been doing that for 5 years now, starting with the first headset.

8:43 "Don't read the comments, because they will give you... ass cancer." ~Mover, 2023
Conscious breathing is vital, it's a core part of most relaxation techniques, and especially box breathing helps calming yourself down. I've seen that movie as well with PTSD, SAD and depression. Get into therapy, find and cope with the root cause, do the relaxation thingies and find out what works best for you. And most importantly, keep talking about it, it's the best relief. With all that, you're ready to face the fear. You don't have anxiety - anxiety has you! (still working on that part myself and it gets really nasty sometimes if psychosomatic reactions are involved that might hamper you)
Oh, and listen to Luna, she's a pro :) (MLP episodes Sleepless in Ponyville and For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils are dealing with this and they're great!)

So, first off, with you having THAT headset now as well, I think it's time for you getting VTOL VR on Steam at last. And possibly also some games that involve shooting. Gunplay in roomscale VR is a completely different experience as opposed to playing any shooter in pancake with mouse and keyboard... you definitely should give it a try. You can get decent recommendations on pretty much any YT channel that does VR, but I'd say, the things anyone should have tried at least would be Half-Life Alyx, Boneworks and/or Bonelab and probably something like Pavlov, Population One or Breachers. There's also great games like Hubris, Vertigo 1+2 (especially the 2nd) that siill are pretty much shooters as well as the Medal of Honor game. Then there's some awesome adenture / puzzle solver games like Wanderer, 7th Guest VR, Myst, Riven, Obduction, Firmament and The Room VR that are absolutely worth playing.
If you want to try something completely different, go for Moss Books 1 and 2 and Ven VR (platformers, the Moss ones actually are a must play! Everyone who tried them loves them!), Demeo, Ancient Dungeon VR and possibly many more.
What I also still would like to see is you getting a Fore Feedback stick base... it's a game changer especially in helos and non-FBW aircraft like the Tomcat or Phantom.
The Quest 3 is probably the best allrounder out there on hte market currently and gets a clear recommendation from me. It has a better FOV than previous Quests (and the 3S), almost as good as the Index which itself is only beaten by Pimax. Most notable advantage though comes from the pancake lenses with a ginormous sweet spot (you can literally be up to 5mm off you IPD and it's still fine) and excellent edge to edge clarity. The audio is much better than on previous Quests and the resolution is basically pretty much at Reverb G2 level.
The controllers are low profile, which makes them nicer to handle if you do the clickety-click stuff with them instead of using a mouse. Advantage in doing so is that you can build up muscle memory (which does take some time first!) and not having to deal with holding your head perfectly still when aiming the cursor at switches. Also, no mouse cursor that you need to find first - just grab that other thing instead, point it at something and pull the trigger or do the thumbstick actions for RMB and scrolling. With practice, that's possibly the better way to do it.
Wifi performance is best when having a router or Wifi AP, ideally running on a different channel than your other one, right in the room you do your wireless PCVR. If the headset is within LOS to that thing it'S even better. It should at least be capable of doing 5GHz Wifi 5 at 866MBit/s (which is fine for 120-160ish MBit/s bitrate, depending on model - which is sufficient), having Wifi 6 would get you better latencies and having Wifi 6E or 7 with Tri-Band 6GHz, you can get the better rates of up to 400MBit/s and not even see any difference to wired link anymore - some would dare to say it's even better. Of course, that router or AP has to be wired up by GBE standards, good Cat 5e cables and GBE capable switches will do that.
I've heard a lot of good feedback on the Asus RT-AXE7800.
Also possible solutions would be using a Wifi stick solely for connecting the Quest to the PC, that would require bridging that one with the Wifi or LAN of your PC so the Quest gets internet access. By bridging them, the PC basically becomes another router for the headset. You could do the same with a router connected to the PC directly via Ethernet which would be the preferred method in case the PC would only have internet access via Wifi from a router in another room.
Also, making the headset more comfortable is key. My recommendation goes to the BoboVR M3 Pro headstrap with battery - and do yourself a favor and get one or two replacement batteries for it straight away and the charging dock (which does come with one battery), so you can keep just swapping the battery while charging the other. Having three in total is nice so you won't wear them down as quickly (which simply is a thing with batteries, they get worse over time) while also making sure you'll always have two fully charged ones at all times, even when you forgot to put the one from the headset back onto the charger. In addition to the headstrap - any other might do as well, like the Kiwi Design ones, Aubika, etc - most important thing is they come with a battery attached at the back to counter-weigh the headset - getting some replacement facial interface or at least the VR Cover cloth strap-overs is very much advised.
In case of anyone needing glasses: Get lens adapters at your prescription for the headset. Some like the HonsVR even come with a magnet system so you can easily just take them out for cleaning and/or when you just wanna show the headset to someone else. Even if you don't need glasses (which would be for normal seeing, not for reading or computer use), having just plain lenses on there as protection for the headset's own lenses isn't a bad idea. Noone wants to have the headset's lenses scratched at some point. If that happens to another set of lenses that you can replace, it's much less hassle to do so.
And, last, but not least: Get Virtual Desktop from the Quest Store. It's vastly superior to both Air Link and Steam Link. It's awesome for PCVR and also great for simply just remotely using your PC, especially in conjunction with VirtualHere running on an Android phone with a mouse/keyboard combo dongle (like Logitech's Unifying Dongle) plugged with an OTG adapter. That way you can fully use your PC anywhere at your home where you got a good enough Wifi connection and enjoy the big screen glory virtually or simply just do the browsing or pancake gaming from your couch or even standing instead of sitting at your desk. I use that on a daily basis since I got the Q3 and would totally miss it if I couldn't anymore.

16:14 Those "invasion stripes" on that 172S though...
20:10 "Crack, check, check" - so did I get this right you don't go all the way down on the collective, but just as much to stay on "top of T"? In sims I used to drop it completely, but well, that's mostly other helos (mainly DCS, since the old MSFS doesn't have most of the real quirks in its FMs, but at least it has the Beta II)
Just checked where Eglin (even had to find out how it's written, but it wasn't too hard) is and though it would be a nice ~209nm cross-country along the coast. Tried to see if there was any MiG-28(UB) visible on the "sat recon", but I just saw a Fat Amy taxiing and some evil C-130s, probably being KCs actually as far as I can tell by the gondolas outside of the outer engine nacelles.
BTW I'd watch a MiG-28 VLOG... but I guess you can't just do it ;)

0:12 I probably missed it if you made some content there...
0:41 US Space Force! /)
0:53 Great, physical PDE!
1:24 That's typically how you learn it... just a bummer that you couldn't manage to make it run.
1:45 Speaking of input hardware: Have you gotten a Force Feedback base yet? VPForce Rhino is said to be the best, but the new Moza AB9 is easier to get and less expensive. And for me, coming from the good old Sidewinder FFB2, it's a night and day difference with a real center stick now that has much more travel, precision and stuff without giving up on FFB and the real trimming experience.
2:54 I guess the key is setting a bigger rolling cache (which never worked for me in the 2020, I had to disable it completely to prevent massive stuttering from going on, and also the rolling cache would prevent photogrammetry stuff getting loaded properly) and them implementing a convenient way to preload certain areas by selection so you won't run into this. I also noticed that in the marketplace, the old addons for the 2020 are listed as "streamed", but there was no way to switch it to something like "locally installed", but the fact alone that it's saying the stuff is being streamed makes me imagine an "install locally" option will be coming for those addons at some time.
4:11 Totally with you there. They shouldn't be an "achievement" that you need to get to first.
9:40 True. Even though I don't mind a refresher (dang, I've been doing some of the F/A-18C tutorials again in DCS recently), those shouldn't be mandatory. Just add a switch to the options for unlocking all contents and reward those who want to do the stuff with some achievement trophies in their favourite game launcher for their ego.
13:53 Agree, they totally give us the option!
14:27 Which it basically is. They literally pulled the Windows 11 move with FS. Before that, in both cases the respective product was going to stay until further notice and to keep getting updates as a service. And then Satya went back to "Oh, wait, we're going to release Win 11 really soon now!" and Asobo followed with their FS24 announcement.
14:49 I guess so as well. It probably is going to be the MS flight sime for another 4 years even if they keep supporting the old for a while as well. I bought the Limied one from Aerosoft and since I didn't do that early enough, I still have to wait for another week or two to get it. With the Aviator's inside, I finally get all the Local Legends and other aircraft they've released so far for the 2020. Could have bought them at a 33% off for having the PDE before, but I only got the Do-31 and the An-225.
Luckily, I just noticed they'Re offering a 14 day Game Pass for just one buck, so I grabbed that one to try out the Standard Edition before getting the full thing. And I wasn't around when all the launch shenanigans happened - well, kinda. Was a great time for having lots of popcorn! :D
16:42 That probably is related to bing maps being part of the sources. They have like a tenth of the data amount of what Google has. ANd it totally is older.
PS: I just can't wait for the official FFB implementation that's on the roadmap. I hope the Moza telemetry thing just works somehow in the meantime. Not having FFB was one of the main reasons why I didn't fly the 20 that much.

2:07 Someone really has some talent there, looks great!
2:41 "Princess Luna" - youtu.be/L6luYNDY6E4
3:10 "National Mover Day" - we need to get this official /) - Happy belated b'day!
13:25 Some wise words there. As I've heard somewhere else (think it was a B-58 documentary): The best bomber is the one that is so good that you'll never have to actually use it for what it's built for. In other words: Even Equestria, where it's all about friendship, love and tolerance, has an army. And I'm glad to live in Germany within a united EU (even with the Bri'ish out now, they're still friends) - which, one can't deny, is a consequence of 2 world wars. Too many people lost their lives in those, but it was literally a global, world wide effort to get us where we are now on this contient, and the US did contribute a lot to that (the USSR as well, just to have it mentioned - and in the end it was Germany striving to reunite that also played a big role in ending the Cold War as well as the US and USSR/Russia). And that was only possible thanks to lots individuals signing that blank check to serve their countries.

@Etha-xi8ei Which is ridiculous. On my old 3570k when it still had a 970 with just 3.5GB of VRAM in it, the forest visibility range slider would do exactly nothing but change the range at which those trees pop in. Framerates were locked at the same spot regardless. If it wasn't an issue on that crate which now would totally count as a potato, it probably isn't even remotey on more recent hardware.
But yes, tree size is one factor for the sense of speed. Another is FOV. Especially in pancake, many tend to fly with a FOV similar to what we can see here in the video or on Growling Sidewinder's channel - almost all the way zoomed out, cramming a 100+ degree FOV into maybe just a 30-40 degree window that is the monitor, could as well be 50 or 60 with a large one, but you basically would have to match your DCS FOV with the FOV of your monitor, which often is zooming almost all the way in to get a realistic sense of speed. In VR, it automagically always matches 1:1 due to its nature, unless you're hitting that VR zoom button for compensating the lower than reticlular resolution of the device.

"Hey'veryone, Wags here from Eagle Dynamics!"
Me: Oh, what's that intro doing there?
7:52 "... especially this little manpad guy, he needs to die really bad."
Me: having pictures of that guy with Wags' face in my head since that's how they looked the last time I had a closer look at them
Wags: "OK."
12:23 Finally I see someone else having that issue with the TGP going black after an impact. Having this in DCS for a while now, seen in both F-16 and A-10C II, but others weren't able to reproduce it yet. Also, looking at the general area where the impact happened, the contrasts are very lacking when the TGP does show something at all, and it's extremely washed out, as seen at 13:12 when you zoom the thing in and at 17:54 when you zoom out and then in again. 18:34 has the black screen again, followed by the washed out image. I agree it looks cool to some extennt, but usually it makes seeing things impossible the way it is right now. 24:58 does show it as well. This is a massive issue for me ATM and it only happens in VR. All this does not happen at all in pancake mode.
20:45 Too close for missiles, going for BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT!
22:42 You could went for a right hand turn to get the target into your right hemisphere at that point, which is indicated by "GIMBAL ROLL>". If you have the SPI around there, boresighting and reslaving is usually the quicker way though.
Glad to see you having some fun with the thing. Especially the APKWS. Great module and the upgrade is worth it so much. Absolutely a no-brainer for anyone who hasn't picked it up yet.

I knew your helo flying was going to be on hold for a while because you had to go to Eglin and that "broken cylinder" thing as you mentioned those. But it appears that that R44 is just like Windows 10, Eternal Early Acces, Pre-Alpha state, bug-ridden and every update that fixes one thing brings 3 new issues. That just sucks. I'm looking forward to see more in the summer, no need to rush it. Hope you'll be able to do your owas in one pass then and finally get it done.
9:47 Laughs in Microsoft, Google, Adobe, nVidia, ATi... maybe it's not so much about safety, but they definately stand their point in terms of clowning when it comes to fixing issues - or not doing so to be precise. Windows (File) Explorer's Alzheimer's FTW! Consecutively failed to fix that in over 2 decades now, ongoing. They probably never even tried...

4:05 Those subtitles though... "[Laughter] ... [Music]" :D
And oh boy, that place is packed that day...
9:50 Looks already like entering the Danger Zone there, speed dropping down to ETL range (towards 20kts) while the RoD is at 500ft/min
10:15 The moment you lean forward to set your transponder, it's almost preprogrammed to happen. In that situation I'd probably have taken the thing down first and enter the squawk while being safe, not even just because of the imminent VRS danger, but also because I had to concentrate on the approach and not being able to multitask and enter stuff somewhere at all - I mean this happens ever so often when flying DCS to me - I simply just try to listen, but I definately don't talk at all on short final, because I'm literally unable to - and I wouldn't be able to "play around" with the instruments at that point either :D
14:02 Absolutely respect you immediately recognizing the mistake and debriefing it like you did, probably already in your head while you stayed down there, but also later on, especially since you shared that with us. I think this might help others in their learning process as well, and not just in aviation.
Just as a side note, I often find myself debriefing even my Clear Skies runs in that MLP game I have on my tablet (should have seen that timer, running straight into that Shadowbolt was stupid just for trying to get those 2 parasprites up there as well, shouldn't have dumped the clouds trying to get that bonus thing down there... :D)... must be some sort of aviator mentality :D
24:19 Is that Lester saying "That's my 44"? :D
27:33 Lester being himself, and he made it into the VLOG even on a solo. Gold!
29:40 At the beginning, I was wondering if it could get any worse... yes!
30:42 At this point you can also go ahead and accept the Roki Tunnel challenge in DCS! :D
A DCS pilot probably would just go over all that stuff, but safety first IRL. Maybe approaching from the other side is an option though...
34:14 "You see that? That fuckin' obstacle course is thirty million dollars!" ~C.W. Lemoine 2021
34:40 LOL had the right idea there XD
35:26 So unusual to see Lester right there without a helmet :)
38:04 After that day, it was an exceptional landing, textbook! /)
39:58 Well said! Was a great episode!

It's the checks you'd routinely do to ensure everything is alright. See this image:
https://www.alamy.de/stockfoto-cockpit-instrumente-von-robinson-r22-beta11-hubschrauber-39589860.html
3 Gs: Where it reads "R22 Beta" on the console the 3 gauges on the right are oil pressure, oil temp and cyl head temp which should be in the green.
Top of T: IIRC Mover wants to switch to turbine powered helos, therefor he's being trained to say that, the T being for turbine, I've read others in the comments say they'd say "top of rpms" instead. It's the check to see if the turbine/engine and main rotor RPM are at the top (also in the green). The gauge for that is the rightmost in the upper row, right next to the airspeed indicator.
WCs out: Check the warning (red) and caution (amber) lights above the gauges (as well as the 3 in front of the temp gauges).
Fuel's good for x hours: Go back to the engine gauges, the left ones are the ammeter and the two fuel tanks. One is ~15 gal, the other ~10 gal. The thing uses ~ 7 - 10 gals per hour as far as I could find out. You'd probably be on the safe side and always assume 10 gal/hr, so you'd have 2.5 hours when they're both full.
Carb heat: (not always in the checks) is the gauge left of the fuel gauges, make sure it's past the yellow area, which is 5+ °C, adjust carb heat accordingly.

Glad you weren't hit by that hurricane... did actually think about your family though as you said you did your first flight in Eunice, LA which is a lot closer to where that thing went.
Lester GoFundMe? Where? This is literally the first time I heard of this being a thing...
*checks other videos*
OK, have found it in the AI vs F-16 video: https://www.gofundme.com/f/lester-cambre039s-flight-path-to-recovery
Might drop some in there as well, even if it won't be much, guess every little bit helps. You know, it feels good to help others get something you always wanted, but never had... almost as good as getting it yourself. Almost ;)
1:15 TOMCATS!
Furlough doesn't sound good... I mean, you'd basically lose your job, but the difference being you could get back in since you're not fired, but that depends on whether the company is going to pick up again or not. In Germany we have something called "Kurzarbeit", where you'd get at least 60% of your salary from the state in case your company enrolls for that. So you'd get less, but aren't completely left on your own. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short-time_working ). On top of that, it just has been decided to raise that by 10% during the pandemic. So with children, you'd be at 77%, which isn't too bad.
7:47 That literally goes for every path you might choose. Always have a backup plan, or at least some idea. Won't hurt and you might need it. Don't get into target fixation, always have a look around. Even if that might not actually do you any better, it at least increases your chances to actually get somewhere. And maybe you discover something you like that you didn't realize or even thought of before.
18:57 "Rule #1: Don't be a douche. As: Be yourself. And if yourself is a douche, then... sorry to hear that." :D

I've heard others say flying in pancake mode is like flying an RC aircraft with a cam on its nose while flying VR actually gets you in the thing like real flying.
Since I switched almost 2 years ago I just did some "test some DCS things quickly" flights in pancake and a bunch on MP tryouts to see how much better it runs there. VR is 120% worth it and I wouldn't fly without anymore except for some quick tests (like after installing mods, changing a map, altering the input definitions with more 2/3-way bindings for the TMWH throttle). And I just run an old CV1.
I guess getting a Quest 2 is currently the best bang for the buck way to get into VR, just needs a Link cable (or 3rd party cable solutions that support USB3 properly) or a good WiFi 6 router an Virtual Desktop. Quest 1 is still great though as well and Oculus does sell those for $199 in the US, refurbished with full warranty. That's almost a steal as it's a brilliant device even with the successor being present. If you don't like facebook, there's still the Reverb G2, the Valve Index and all the VIVE products as well as the Pimaxes to be considered, but all of those being more expensive.
After having flown DCS and Il-2 in VR, I also found some great VR games afterwards that I wasn't particularly interested in initially... titles like Half-Life: Alyx, Boneworks, Asgard's Wrath, Lone Echo, Shadow Legend VR, In Death: Unchained or the Vader Immortal episodes are real gems. Especially gunplay/shooting and archery are a lot of fun in VR.

0:35 Heard about this on the MGS already... not great, but you gotta live with what you have, I guess.
BTW since you still have the G2, you might want to consider getting either a Quest Pro or 3 as an upgrade. Main reason would be them having pancake lenses with a much bigger sweet spot and a vastly improved sharpness when you're not looking directly forward (edge to edge clarity). Quest 3 has about the same resolution as the G2 and a better processor for standalone stuff (You actually could try a few awesome VR games instead of playing Starfield :P) and way better mixed / augmented reality than the Pro while the Pro comes with Mini LED and local dimming, so you get better blacks and contrasts, almost as good as with OLED panels and eye tracking which, with OpenXR toolkit active, can make use of Dynamic Foveated Rendering which only renders the area you're looking at at full resolution and the rest at a lower one to further improve framerates. The Pro is 1200 bucks, but the Q3 can also add up if you were to take the 512GB version (not required for PCVR at all and not necessarily required for standalone either, unless you don't like uninstalling stuff for freeing up space for something new), a replacement headstrap with additial battery (acts both as a counterweight to make the thing more comfy as well as a "playtime extension") and possibly even the Pro controllers for those VR games with basically hassle-free all around tracking.
I'd say getting the Q3 with the BoboVR M3 Pro and a second battery for that thing with the charging pad and a VR Cover facial interface cover set would be preferrable, especially if you might want to have a look into other VR experiences like some really great shooters such as Half-Life: Alyx. It's also exceptionally great for watching movies in a virtual theater.
In either case, having at least a Wifi 5 capable router or access point in the room(s) you're going to play or sim in is highly recommended if you'd be going for wireless (which is great), but you'd get the best experience with a Wifi 6E Triband capable router like the Asus RT-AXE7800 as that can provide much higher bitrates. Alternatively you could just use Link via cable and for that you probably should get the one that VR Cover offers which is very high quality and only costs half as much as the original one from Meta.
One thing particularly beneficial with Meta headsets is the fact that you can use Link/Air Link to connect with the Obulus software on your PC which comes with the Oculus Mirror. That tool has a great image stabilization feature which makes watching the VR footage on YT, Twitch and other platforms noticably more pleasant if you then take that mirror as your OBS screen source.
But I digress... (it's worth it, those lenses are so much better!) XD
2:51 I'm sure both the Tomcat (TOMCATS!) and the Hornet have that modelled, but I don't know why others, especially the Viper don't.
3:06 VIPERS!
5:03 Interesting fact. Having a realistic pilot body physics model would probably make 98% of the DCS community die constantly in any kind of rate fight... XD
6:07 Without even knowing the real thing I always found that particularly strange, similar to the TDC in the Hornet that keeps returning to the top left corner on unlocking.
7:05 Nice setup!
7:17 You genuinely already got the literal Easy Mode right there with the VR headset.
7:35 See above ;) - Quest 3 then, it can do 120Hz, the Pro is limited to 90.
17:53 Down The Good Old Rate Fight Toilet Bowl :D
