  1. 0:46 So great to hear that! He's spot on! That was the whole reason why Gorbachov tried the whole Glasnost & Perestroika thing. Hardliners tried to uprise against him and then Yeltsin took over and first tried to keep the ship on course, but seemingly failed and fell into the drinking hole, only to then finally put Vladimir Vladimirovich into power, hoping that he's be good for the country. To be fair, I don't know a lot about the Yeltsin era, I'd so much love to have some decent documentaries about it, but those don't seem to exist (yet) - it's a very important timeframe for understanding how Russia got to where it is now. The bad 90s are a product of Soviet politics in the 80s and probably even back in the 70s. Politics is like flying a helicopter, you have to anticipate what could happen before it actually gets to happen. And things do happen in a noticable delay. I see this in Germany a lot where people blame the current governing coalition for things that literally the previous 6 ones are responsible for (the gas dependency was founded by Schröder and 4 legislative periods of Merkel didn't change anything about that) while the current one now has to somehow get the derailed trainwreck back on track. Of course, they're the "bad bois and grills" ;) 5:50 Well, kinda... that was Putin's Rochade to make it look like him being democratic and make room for someone else only to come back 4 years later while having have pulled the strings during that time.
