Same here. I'm 61 now but I had a very, very abusive mom - both physically and verbally - my father not as much, but still old world in his manner of disciplining. I ran away a couple of times, got mixed up with the wrong crowd, which made my situation ten times worst. I remember telling my mother once "I wish I were dead because of you." But never once did I wish my parents dead or think of killing them. I left home at 18. As I grew older I learned to forgive my parents in my heart. When I was in my 20s, my mother said to me "I'm sorry." That meant a lot to me but i never expected or demanded it. She was my mother - with all her faults I loved her. If anyone ever threatened her, I would go out of my way to protect her.
