  2. The problem was not homeownership, but using derivatives to turn banking into a casino game of musical chairs. The greedy traders turned a couple of trillion dollars of mortgagesv into 20 plus trillion dollars of monopoly money, and when the mu sic stopped the taxpayers were left without a chair, but being gullible they paid off the the thieves, and let the thieves blame it on subprime instead of the greedy bankers/investors and their derivative based poker chips. Of course Sowell, eveready to protect capitalism ignores deregulation and blames the clerks instead of tge cheatscwho used deregulation to cheat. I prefer Buffett who called derivitives weapons of mass destruction.
