In the most recent UN vote to condemn russia and demand they leave Ukraine, 141 countries voted against russia, 4 voted with russia, and 30-odd abstained. So the world in general has been pretty solidly against russia for some time.
207
The Ruble's strength was purely artificial. No one outside Russia wanted Rubles (why would they?). So even though it had a record-breaking high value for a while, this was only on paper; they were worthless outside Russia really and no one was buying them.
195
Absolutely. Give them Russian-style security guarantees. That is, the type that can be broken any time we feel like it.
103
There is also one of the world's most famous Hong Kong Lady-boy brothels which is obviously what putin is most interested in.
54
@thomasherrin6798 russia's market is already lost forever.
45
It isn't a price cap coming on Feb 5th, it is an outright EU ban on buying refined petrol products from russia. And it makes me furious when people complain about higher energy prices and inflation as a result of all this. Pretty sure Ukraine wishes that high prices were the only thing they had to worry about on a daily basis. It's all relative folks.
25
@Steelrat1994 Sad though isn't it? That in this world, cheap oil is more important than preventing human tragedy and daily war crimes. I am sure India will be first in line for that sweet sweet Russian oil. SHAME on anyone buying it and thus funding this war. Karma will pay them back.
19
@peterflohr7827 Yup, no limits in how high China and India can now make russia jump at their bidding.
15
@svanimation8969 None of the countries you mention buy remotely relevant volumes except China and India, which is why I mentioned only them. Though Turkey is up there. Fact is, in 2022 at the start of the war, 64% of ALL russia's fossil fuel exports (oil / gas/ refined / the whole lot) was sold to the EU or other Western countries. Fossil fuel is by far their main export and their entire economy depends on it. They just lost 64% of their market for that absolutely vital export, potentially forever. And they cannot easily sell to any emerging market (even if there was one, which there isn't....the EU is rich beyond the dreams of most countries you mentioned) due to lack of ships, price cap, and non-existent pipelines. Do the math. Even if the war ended favourably for russia tomorrow, economically, they are doomed.
11
@DakuHonoo You are wrong. And I will quote it all for you: "In resolution ES‑11/4 (October 2022), the General Assembly declares that the referendums held in the Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, which were conducted under disputed circumstances and unrecognized by the international community, as well as their subsequent annexation by Russia, are invalid and illegal under international law. It calls upon all states to not recognize these territories as part of Russia. Furthermore, it demands that Russia immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw from Ukraine as it is violating its territorial integrity and sovereignty." The only thing I got wrong was the number of countries voting for the resolution. It was 143 not 141. So yeah the vast majority of the world is against russia.
10
@evilmex1962 It doesn't show western schizophrenia at all; it simply shows that you do not understand that oil prices fluctuate.
10
Indeed, the sanction thus far are harmless, so we need many more asap.
8
You just said "concentrate your forces by thinning out your troops" - what the heck does that mean?
8
Nothing to do with that. Europe stopped buying and will never buy from Russia again. So good luck to them. When you alienate your (by far) largest market for the few exports that you have and which 60% of your economy depends on.... They are doomed even if they win the war.
7
@denwilden2748 Yet energy prices are dropping rapidly everywhere as I type....
6
@alex_gaimar He is. Oil isn't delivered in pipes.
6
@WinterXR7 Nope, invading another country's sovereign borders is against every convention and rule on our planet. There is no excusing it whatsoever. I guess Ukraine "asked for this" in your book? And who are Russia to dictate who joins NATO? It is none of their business. [Though I do thank them for being responsible for the next 2 (or more) countries that will soon join NATO. We couldn't have done it without Vlad the Failer's help.]
5
Meanwhile, everyone else is quietly moving away from America.
4
russia will NEVER buy those ridiculous numbers. Best claim the vote was 130% in favour of joining Ukraine, they will happily believe that
3
@jordancobb7553 I think you confused me with someone else. I am extremely anti-Russian. Apology accepted.
3
@LutherusPXCs Tons more. We still allow the import of most medicines for example.
2
@tedtoews9889 Yeah all 143 countries voted against russia just because America told theme to. Get real.
2
If only America had the balls to support them properly, as they deserve.
2
@WinterXR7 Stop apologising for Russia. The reason the war began was that Russia invaded Ukraine. End of story. There is nothing whatsoever that can justify that. Nothing. NATO's behaviour is irrelevant. They could have taken Putin's mum out on a date, banged her and then never called her back and still that would not justify what Russia has done.
2
Is it because they invaded Ukraine and everyone hates them?
2
@hagalathekido Since we are talking about the russia army (ahem), I reckon it's more like 4 or 5:1 in favour of Ukraine.
2
Could it be because anyone on the planet with a sense of morality and humanity no longer wants any dealings whatsoever with a barbaric terrorist state like russia? Just a hunch.
2
@Thisishard2333 Oooh, sounds like you are being ripped off horribly by your local suppliers. All fuel prices are dropping fast where I live.
1
@YouTalkingBolox7949 You are completely wrong. Have you seen their recent Jan 23 budget figures (published by kremlin)? russia is losing out on all their exports not just those that are sanctioned and capped. Base metals are their other big export and they are losing those big time as well. The entire world is appalled by russia's behaviour and no one wants to buy from a terrorist state that bullies customers. Better to pay a bit more from a reliable and trustworthy country. And for the record, the EU buys zero energy products from russia, China or India, where did you get that nonsense?
1
Seems russia has realised just how much it needs the rest of the World, just as the rest of the World has realised how little it needs russia. Thank you for that, putin! Now please disappear into obscurity along with that loser terrorist state you lead.
1
Ukraine will retreat from Bakhmut when they are good any ready. While russia is spending ridiculous number of resources on it, let them carry on. Keeps all those forces away from places that matter.
1
russian weapons must now, by law, be stamped with the warning "Not suitable for use against NATO weapons". No wonder no one wants to buy them. I also wonder how Wagner group will get on in finding new customers after such a dismal performance in Ukraine over the past 10 months.
1
@WhichDoctor1 The reason is irrelevant. The fact russia provided no help renders the alliance a farce.
1
russia is basically lying about their inflation.
1
This is not the main russian offensive. It simply cannot be as it is too embarrassing. The worst is yet to come.
1
If Bakhmut is still delivering on its original purpose as a huge trap to kill very efficient numbers of russians, then you defend it and keep it. If it is becoming too costly to continue delivering such KIA numbers, then you give it up and retreat. Simple. And I am sure the Ukrainian high command is well aware of this.
1
You mean like the hypersonic missile fired at Kyiv that was easily shot down by a Patriot system a few days ago? Yeah, they pretty much proved to world how useless those weapons are as well didn't they.
1
@musicclassic5938 Nice try. All these people express solidarity with rapists and murders who are attempting genocide of a neighbouring country? These must be some nice people.
1
@tedtoews9889 Shrug. Just happy that 143 countries are with us.
1
Er.... isn't the price cap still unproven, given the actual price is LOWER??
1
Simple test to answer the question posed by the video title: They are russian, so if their lips are moving, they are lying.
1
I often wondered why russia considered China and India as its "allies" when it was so obvious to everyone outside russia that they were simply being opportunistic and actually doing massive harm as they cheerfully exploited their russian "ally". lol
1
Also remember that all the figures Russia publishes are almost certainly a lie, and they are painting a much more positive situation than the truth. I know it's a shocker, but Russians cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Ever. This BSing is absolutely critical to their plans because they only way they can "win" the war is to outlast the West's resolve to help. If they gave a true economic picture, the West would smell (economic) blood and support for Ukraine would sky-rocket. You also failed to mention that on Dec 5th, two things happen: it becomes illegal for any EU country to buy Russian oil, and the much-touted oil price cap kicks in. Let's see how their economy lies look after that.
