  1. Biden is all-in on praising and doubling down on his own failed strategy. It is too late for him to alter course or the repercussions for him would be devastating. And if even one single trapped US citizen escapes from Afghanistan and gets home and tells their story, Biden is finished. So basically the government is now doing everything they can to scupper private rescue attempts. The Taliban is well and truly in charge now.
