  1. Gormeghast is amazing you uncultured philistine pisshead. Seriously. It's in a different league from all the other shit you mentioned. Not strictly fantasy though, there's no magic or elves, it's more or less a dark, morbid gothic power struggle set in a crumbling old castle, and only has about a dozen main characters. Read it. It's a life-changer.
