  1. He is talking specifically about Mariupol. They've taken the brunt of this so far.

  2. He needs to withdraw and find a smaller war that he can win convincingly so he can then approach the peace talks with demands instead of having to beg for peace and surrender humiliated. This plan MUST fail and we must all hope the Russian army is completely destroyed in Ukraine and has to withdraw (including from Crimea). Otherwise, Putin can just regroup and plan the next invasion in a few years.

  3. And if he succeeds with conventional weapons, he will be emboldened and just keep going, and we will end up in the exact same place but with the conflict having spread further and wider. Much better to stop him now while the conflict is on Russia's doorstep.
