Correct. russia has already lost. Even if Ukraine surrendered tomorrow, the sanctions would remain, russia would remain completely isolated and the russian economy would continue to collapse.

@Marri12345 They now control the gas terminal that controls the remaining flow of russian gas to the EU (Hungary etc). Seems fairly strategic to me. Regardless of that, I guess the main strategic aim is probably to divert russian forces from elsewhere, to force them to move to where Ukraine wants them?

@kartikeyatiwari2502 Diverting russian troops from elsewhere. This might be a massive diversion for all we know. They also captured a key gas terminal that controls gas pipelines to the UE, and are near to a even more key nuclear plant. Lots can be achieved here.

@kartikeyatiwari2502 The numbers are completely unknown. The secrecy behind the operation is astounding and has been praised from almost every observer. No one knows what size force is there.

@kartikeyatiwari2502 That'll be why they are recruiting prisoners, foreign mercenaries and tripling the bounty to join up. Their massive shortage of manpower is already well documented.
