  1. He downplayed it. Like every other leader in the world at that time. I'm in the UK, I saw our equally downplayed reaction. Otherwise there would have been genuine panic / anarchy. The panic buying we did see in the supermarkets was nothing compared to would have happened had they not downplayed at that time. It was the right thing to do. Remember when Trump did react, the Left called him xenophobic and racist. Had they been in power you'd likely be looking at 300k US deaths or more right now instead of 200k. If you want scapegoats and are prepared to politicize the virus (shame on you) just look to the 5 liberal politicians that sent 40k old people in the US to their deaths with the virus in care homes.
