  3. Thompson’s “formulas” didn’t start with the simple rules that one would start with in game of life or cellular automata. These were more complex formulas that had multiple different graphing points given separately from the equations which also produced relatively simplistic images. You have failed to draw the connection between Thompson’s silly drawings and the mathematics that were way ahead of his time.
