I do not place moralistic judgement upon what occurred between Dodgson, the families, and the children when no harm is done. He did nothing, no abuse, no molestation, no grooming. And yet the photos exist. (4 nudes survive to this day). "Fine?" What is "fine?" The REAL issue is the abuse of innocence, NOT nudity. The REAL issue is OUR lack of moral understanding in the face of NO EVIDENCE that anything ever happened. Plenty of evidence, not mentioned in this sensationalistic documentary, pointing to a different conclusion. Read up get informed, try to open eyes without modern correct neurotic prejudiced analysis. Read the books, re-discover the child and wonder.

  7. No. "Enjoyed kids" is the wrong spin. Dodgson was child-like his entire life. Because of this he was more comfortable, and children could relate to him in their presence. As the children grew up, they realized that the Rev. C. Dodgson WAS still a child, thus for example the sad look on Alice's face in that 18year old Alice photograph Dodgson took (at the request of the mother). But the cut diary pages were done at Dodgson's instructions (as he also told the families it would be done for any nude photographs). By the time of his death, he was a public figure (the nephew Collingsworth rushed to get the "official" biography out to publication) So the nieces read the diaries and cut pages to protect the reputation of the families still living at the time including the Liddells. At the time of the rift, Alice was only 11 at the time and Lorina 14. Remember it was Dodgson who said "I'm not coming round anymore" and then the mother one-upping Dodgson by "banning him from the Deanery." So, pure speculation here, the mother knew of Dodgson's interest in Alice and shot it down with "your supposed to be courting Lorina or Prickett" Perhaps, but the mother was too much the snob to settle her daughters on a lowly Christ Church Don so we still don't know, as this line of reasoning doesn't fit the mother. The only thing that fits is a man who hand-inks that book and then presents it to Alice after over a year of production is a man in love.
