@John-tq4bf PROP them UP to START. AFTER that there is a ton of MONEY to be made just go ask oil and gas and coal companies.

@TBFSJjunior An exclusion zone is not needed for helium bed.

@TBFSJjunior What you mean "why?" There is a massive OBSCENE amount of MONEY for whomever supplies the ENEGY we need. Just go check any Oil company last years 2nd qtr filing statements. And they will fight to protect that income. MacKay goes on and on, mathematically correct, about Power versus Area. Rather than Energy versus Cost. His numbers are all correct and almost all not relevant. (and somewhat out of date, no one is arguing that current technology is the answer and that we're constantly improving efficiencies so to claim it won't work based upon TODAYS number is dis-ingenious) The Oil will Run Out. Not in your lifetime, but your descendent will not be happen and will be FORCED to change or die. Legislate an incentive(s) to make the bottom line of the current fossil fuel producers MORE profitable by switching. And the ONLY way I can think of economically wish Mackay went into it, but he ain't a social economics professor, it to TAX carbon. EXAMPLE: geothermal, little w/m area taken, and the oil companies KNOW how to drill deep. Atomic: little w/m area taken and GE and others KNOW how to power a turbine.

and the conclusion?

Hey MacKay, RIP, but what is the w/m of geothermal and atomic? not even worth calculating.

@redo348 the point is nukes are the only way we know now that work and give us the power density and transport of the energy (hydrogen) to be practical.
