  1.  @evilmex1962  probably not, but don’t we all expect it to be solved in short order if Putin falls and Russia gets weak enough? Same with South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Probably the Kuril Islands as well. Karelia and Königsberg will be harder to solve.

  2. Turkey maintains an occupation of an EU member state. As long as it does so, I don’t want any further alliances with them. A lot of us would also like to make Smyrna Greek again and liberate Constantinople.

  3. The EU is also a mutual self-defense union. It’s not just NATO that is.

  4.  @cultural-and-historical  The EU has a military aspect, too. It’s all been negotiated in advance and it’s all there in the treaties, waiting to be activated. We are also allowed to use the NATO command structure for EU operations… that has also been negotiated in advance. We are working hard behind the scenes to reduce our dependency on US equipment (from certain weapons to troop transport planes)… take a look at PESCO and Thierry Breton’s DG DEGIS for the public details.
