At least she doesn’t support Lula… and she clearly understands the immigration problems in the Netherlands better than you!

@natashatercera8536 it was an entirely man-made famine.

As we say in Denmark: Asia begins in Malmö.

A good subject would be the struggle over who got to appoint (and dismiss) the local governors. Russia’s “investiture crisis”, so to speak.

Because the US started out with many states that each guarded their power jealously. The federal layer was built later and was very, very thin in the beginning. Keys to power, as the other commenter says.

Time? No, it was obvious a long time ago that it was.

@sammiller6631 no! It is wrong. On the internet!

@joek600 it absolutely can be called a success and that was clear after just a few years.

The hardest part used to be the lack of proper learning materials. Things are much, much better now— internet, YouTube, Netflix, various language learning apps + it is much easier now to find and order easy readers in Chinese + modern dictionary apps are great (Pleco!). There are also more easy readers made by westerners (they are useful better than the official Chinese State easy readers). The grammar is very, very different but not much of a problem. The tones are easy enough to hear and say if you have an ear for music. Remembering the right tone for a word is surprisingly hard. Pīnyīn is amazing :)

He seriously helped lots and lots deaf people. That’s actually worth checking out.

Mendeleev had lots of contemporaries. It wasn’t like he did it from scratch or like he figured it all out. There is a Periodic Table video here on YouTube about it if you are curious. They show earlier publications with incomplete periodic tables, they show his version, they show later versions that are still incomplete. Saying that he was the inventor/discoverer of the periodic table is more than a little arbitrary.

The “kiare” pronunciation of “care” wasn’t necessarily a slip up. There are Americans that do that naturally.

Psychology also matters. My guess is that most of the Putinists in the West are autistic.

I remember it and I was very confused. Both sides broke the constitution, both sides were wrong and right. I really wanted to know who the good guys were but I couldn’t find any. My best source of information at the time was Time Magazine’s coverage which wasn’t all that great. Most journalists in Denmark who spoke fluent Russian were Communist sympathizers and were just sad and confused that the Soviet Union had fallen.

America didn’t attack Vietnam. It’s crazy that so many people believe that. No, it was attempt to save South Vietnam from the invading Communists from North Vietnam. Unfortunately, the US troops left and North Vietnam did end up subjugating South Vietnam. They collectivized farming and instantly created a large famine in the South. But maybe you didn’t know that…
1
@joek600 yes, the Communists tried to take over the country and oppress everybody in the name of freedom. The US fought hard to prevent it but in the end gave up and the Communists won shortly after. Vietnam was a hellhole for a long time after that, which only started to change when the Commies were tired of being poor and weak and slowly allowed a little market economy.
