And the Polish voters kept punishing the politicians for the very reforms that made the Polish economy better. Thank god that they kept reforming Poland anyway! This lasted roughly until PiS gained power…

@dejanstoimenovski2350 Vietnam became a terrible place because the Communists won. They switched the country to collective farming, the agricultural productivity fell by a lot, there was a famine, hundreds of thousands died. Serbia tried to exterminate the non-Serbian population in and around Serbia. You don’t think you are more correct about Syria and Libya, do you? (You aren’t.)

And not only a revolution -- it's "solidarity", "freedom", "progress", and "human rights".

Not quite. The grandchildren and great grandchildren of recent immigrants from Southern Italy, sure. Older Argentinian families? Not entirely white. Most of them have a little native Indian blood.

Poland did it quite well: everybody gets a tiny ownership in a formerly state owned company and people can then buy and sell these shares (or use them as collateral for loans). It prevents most of oligarchy problems and everybody gets *something*. It also transitions the economy to a liberal market economy very quickly. The German model of having a state owned trust/company (Treuhandanstalt) own all the shares of the former East German state owned companies and then selling them slowly on the open market isn’t nearly as good. It takes too long and the civil servants working at the Treuhandanstalt didn’t know enough about the market conditions so prices were often too high or too low. The Russian model of just “selling” (gifting) all the good stuff for a song to well-connected people and then having them fight it out between themselves, Chicago style with kidnappings and machine guns and contract killings is just awful. You end up with oligarchs, lawlessnesses, a huge poor majority — and worst of all, no proper market economy.

Come on! Preventing rickets costs basically nothing. If people have rickets - and some people in the UK do - it’s not because of poverty. Be grateful for Saint Maggie for stopping the decline (and even reversing it slightly) when she was in power :)

They can also quit, they can all “get sick” at the same time, or they can act dumb and only follow direct instructions and ask for clarification all the time. Plenty of tools in the box without committing crimes!
