  2.  @arthurherman1046 no, quite opposite. In Russian you have “русский”(national origin or ethnicity), which is a ethnonym, and “российский” (of Russian Federation), which is a politonym. You may be a Tatar (not Russian by ethnicity) and yet be Russian as a citizen of Russia. English and other languages often don’t see such difference.
