@PeterSedesse Russia and China both have "soft" currencies; these differ from hard currencies, as they are not treated as "commodities" or a "store of value" (they frequently fluctuate in value). Many countries keep foreign currency and Gold reserves (although tying money to the value of Gold was abandoned in the 1970's); some are moving off the $American, largely due to sanctions and the $/Rouble rate is largely redundant (unless you are a tourist). China introduced a cryptocurrency, last year, it's only available to Chinese citizens, worth a fraction of a cent, but alternatives to the dollar are emerging (if anyone is to blame it's those using the dollar more as a weapon. Venezuela (subject to a lot of attention from USA) proposed adopting the Euro; largely to avoid sanctions; pick a currency; it looks like a multi-polar world now.
