  1. China already said, "Don't try to involve us in American power games"; I do wish people would listen, it saves a lot of time. The idea of China getting involved is a non-starter.

  2. The EU is not a military alliance (yet); it's not in their interest to get left "holding the bag" to please American interests, while the "peacekeeping troops" ruse is unlikely to work again. This retired German diplomat is looking for a neutral arbiter that is acceptable to Russia and Ukraine, also America; one that wants to intervene, but that apparently doesn't exist. So America will just have to keep funding the conflict in Ukraine, if they want the war to continue and all those loans maybe repaid sometime. It's an example of the "sunk cost fallacy".

  3. No interest at all probably, in getting involved in other people's wars, what's in it for them? (nothing but trouble).

  4. His term as President of Ukraine ended last year; according to the Ukrainian constitution, so currently he's just the unelected Ukrainian leader.
