  3.  @oleweiseth7588  It was; but there's no elections now and there should have been a vote on who is the President, last year, but that didn't happen either. Anyway this conflict isn't about democracy; it's about Ukraine giving up neutrality (as agree with Russia) and trying to join NATO.

  4.  @oleweiseth7588  In 2008: both NATO and EU, in separate summits, suggested Ukraine might join (obviously Ukraine inquired). No elections then it's not a democracy, while the Ukrainian President has a fixed term (unlike Parliament), so what they currently have is a dictator. If there was a Presidential election, it's entirely possible a new one would be selected; but, either way, the current situation is a breach of the Ukrainian constitution. As I said; the conflict is not about democracy; America wants loans repaid and a rebuilding contract for one of it's companies. Russia wants a neutral Ukraine, or it's war.
