The Wagner group (I believe included prisoners offered amnesty if they survived six months) they've been and gone (most to Belarus) replaced by Russian troops; also there will be casualties; the initial invading force was estimated to be 150,000. Russia may be mobilizing 460,000 more troops (I hear) to go on the offensive (after recent attacks on Crimea, which they regard as Russia); if so then the nationalists, who do not support a long "war of attrition" are getting their way. It is difficult to decide exact numbers, there is a war going on.
