  1. if u didn't understand Shutter Island, ur an idiot. in the ending, he replayed as a tape, like Cawley stated. u can tell that he IS a patient by Cawley's look when Chuck shakes his head to him, since their theory of how to get him to believe the truth didnt work. he then gets his lobotomy, which u can tell by the music

  2. in the simplest terms, 2001 was about humans and their evolutionary progression. animals have inhabited earth, and apes were the first to find the monolith. after the apes touched it, they were basically chosen. then a lot became humans and then some stayed the same. the humans then went to the moon. another monolith is waiting for them, to see how far they'd get. the ringing sound was an alarm to other monoliths. then, 18 months later, humans reach the Jupiter area, and another monolith brings him to "another part of the galaxy" (said the director, although it's a very human Louis XVI bedroom). the people who do make it there are granted to become reborn as enhanced beings, and in this, a star-child. and then they head back to where they belong.
