  1. The proper definition of a metaphor is comparing two things by saying it straightforwardly. Like The Hurt Locker's tagline "War is a drug". That is a metaphor. The fact that it's not "War is like a drug" is why it's not a simile. What "I laughed more than one million times" is, is a hyperbole.
