@oliveoil5034 Someone tried to break into my house too, it didn't turn me into a baby.
3
@oliveoil5034 They're not banned enough, apparently, as I can buy civilian variants of assault rifles in the USA, and mod them very easily to be fully auto. I used to work for a guy with full attachments who was preparing to fight the Russians at night after they invade America. He was nuts, just not crazy enough to be banned from getting firearms.
2
@oliveoil5034 You sound like you're in a panic. It must be insane to live in a country so obsessed with guns and the fantasy of shooting people. Why deal with the reality of mass shootings when we can address the fantasy of you shooting a burglar?
1
@oliveoil5034 Wow, okay. So anyways, you can call the cops after an attempted break in, but unless the criminals left their wallets, there's not much the cops can do. They're not going to start an investigation for an attempted burglary, and if they do it will never close. That's because they're busy solving violent murders and investigating, you know, theft. The thing that doesn't result from burglary "attempts." But the point is I didn't get scared and buy a gun. That would have been stupid. Putting my self and my family in more danger because I fantasize about shooting criminals? How childish.
1
@oliveoil5034 Look, nobody said you can't hit somebody in the head with a bat (you sure seem insane enough). I said you were acting childish. Are you trying to correct my perception?
1
@oliveoil5034 You said it was an attempted break-in, and now I get a rambling story about your sister-in-law with a crowbar. Not exactly random. People have a lot of guns around here, but there hasn't been a burglar shot that I'm aware of. But then, we don't have a crazy obsession with semi-automatic weapons here.
1
@oliveoil5034 Sounds like "you" problems.
1
@oliveoil5034 I lock my door. "Break-in" lol.
1
@oliveoil5034 When my cousins and friends live there, it's my concern. Other countries don't have your problems. We have a high ownership rate, too. It's the gun culture.
1
@oliveoil5034 Oh. Seems in your case locking the door would have worked better.
1
@oliveoil5034 There are about 100 burglary-homicides a year. Gun suicides, around 18 000. You be safe, out there.
1
@elonmust7470 What's the number, then? Here's another one. Americans are 9 times more likely to be shot than defended with a firearm.
1
@elonmust7470 Got them from a DOJ report. Waiting for your source....
1
@oliveoil5034 Nobody was threatening you. Just saying, if you want safety, a gun in your house is exactly the opposite. And the more ready that gun is for an intruder, the more likely something bad will happen to you or your fam. Nobody wants you to hate guns, or ever asked you too. Just ask yourself why it makes you so angry when someone points out how dangerous you've made your home? If someone pointed out flammable garbage piling up at your back door or porch, and said "if there's a fire, you won't want these in your way," would you scream at them? Is it possible to practice common courtesy, as nobody is getting angry at you? I even tried to make your home safer by suggesting you should lock your door. It really helps keep the sisters-in-law out.
1
@oliveoil5034 Again, nobody's threatening you. The only reason anybody would be concerned with the fact you have a gun in your home is that you act insane and you don't lock your door. And I question the value of calling someone a "child" in the middle of your tantrum.
1
@oliveoil5034 calm down
1
@oliveoil5034 So you're saying you're far more likely to be killed by guns than be protected by one? Guns are more dangerous than I said? Thanks, that makes it even more insane. No, I didn't make any false claims, they came from the Department of Justice. My behavior? You're the one making false claims and throwing temper tantrums. Nobody, not one person has asked you to give up your guns. Where did I say I don't like guns? I've never had a problem with them, I keep saying it's the gun culture, not the guns. You're basically lying about what I say then complaining about my behavior. Compared to you I've been extremely polite.
1
@oliveoil5034 ... and I don't see any corrected numbers in there for the number of homicides where the motivation is "burglary" (the number Theodore said was too low). You just patted him on the back for saying I'm wrong. If I'm wrong, what's the correct number?
1
@oliveoil5034 2017 was also a record year for gun related suicides, which are on the rise. That said, 24 000 and 18 000 aren't all that different, and it makes your case look worse.
1
@oliveoil5034 Um, I'm allowed to protect myself. I'm allowed to shoot intruders if I like. My preference is keeping me and my family safe.Your crazy sister-in-law isn't a burglar, though, and didn't break in or steal anything. A break in is when you lock your door and somebody enters. The reason you know it wasn't a break-in was she didn't go to jail. Your sister-in-law damaged your landlord's property? Don't let her in. Having guns and threatening to beat people with a bat doesn't work anywhere near as good as locking your door.
1
@oliveoil5034 Am I saying you can't protect yourself? No. I never said that, or anything remotely like that, and you know it. That's a lie.
1
@oliveoil5034 You probably should have mentioned the broken door maybe 4 days ago. But yeah, crazy sister-in-law? I mean, to me you've been a total bitch, and I'm a complete stranger. What did you do to your sister-in-law to make her that angry? Because you being crazy, I can believe (that's how you act). From the way you write it seems like you stole her meth or something.
1
@oliveoil5034 ...and I'm still waiting for you to correct me on the number of homicides each year that list "burglary" as the motive. The number Theo said was way too low. Do you not know how to look things up?
1
@oliveoil5034 We'll try something new. If you can calm down and write normal, English sentences, I'll read them.
1
@oliveoil5034 Sorry, I also asked for replies in English.
1
@oliveoil5034 You still didn't tell me how many homicides per year list "burglary" as the motive. And you only told me your door was broken after days of blithering. I'm not psychic.
1
@stephanieg3025 Actually, the data on conceal carry laws and their affect on violent crime is pretty inconclusive. Some studies show no effect, some show it increases violent crime, some say it decreases violent crime. It certainly seems having all those guns hasn't decreased the number of shootings or shooting deaths. I mean, shouldn't the USA be the safest country on Earth?
1
Nope, Republicans love her. It doesn't matter what you do or how you act that's important, the important thing is to share the same correct opinions.
1
No, it appears the insane ones are able to leave or enter any time, and they're allowed to conduct interviews.

Kaitlin was so close to outsmarting a college liberal, but she accidentally opened her mouth.
1
I'm not sure the distinction matters.
1
Or she has classes to go to and a life to live. Maybe she noticed all the talk about gun control hasn't changed anything so it's pointless. Or you could make an assumption, which just calls your intelligence into question.

BTW, "nauseous" means you cause other people to vomit. You want "nauseated," or "that gives me nausea."
1
@futaba_aa5648 That's nice, but libertarianism is still terrible. We tried it. It was awful.
1
@futaba_aa5648 It was used as a system for fleecing citizens. Repeatedly. Remember when the fire department only put out fires if you paid them? When they started fires to get work? When general stores paid guys, then took their pay right back for supplies, rent and food? Remember castles, and barons, and knights, and peasants? In a libertarian society, whoever has power makes the rules. "Protection" would become a legit career. I'm not going back to that chaos. Lord of the Flies.
1
@futaba_aa5648 Libertarians often have differing views, so that's not a legit complaint. What I described was anarcho-capitalism and minarchism which tend to be the linchpin of American Libertarianism, along with laissez-faire capitalism, making it not terribly different from Conservatism. We've already seen the results of all those ideologies, and they aren't good.
1
@futaba_aa5648 I guess the feudal thing might be a stretch, but property ownership will become very important as the population grows, thus a return to a similar system. In Libertarian philosophy, not everyone can get property, and property rights will distinguish those that have from second-class citizens. You'll be dependent on the whims of whoever owns the property.
1
@futaba_aa5648 Social democracies are doing fine. They have better education, better healthcare, better environments. Please tell me how pollution has made your life better. It seems like I guessed your views pretty well. You're certainly not leaning towards the left side of Libertarian views, much more Conservative like I said. Wow, I'm good at this.
1
@futaba_aa5648 Exactly what I said. Are you having trouble reading? If you don't limit landowner rights, only landowners will have rights. I certainly didn't complain about landowner rights being limited. You're just one person. The whole planet belongs to all of us.
