Teresa Mullooly It's actually Pepsi that has more sugar, caffeine and calories. Coke has more sodium.

RXTZMafiaboyz No, your body converts food to sugar. 1 cup of mashed potatoes contains starches which your body converts into about 9 teaspoons of sugar. High fructose corn syrup (the sugar in Coke) gets converted to glycogen (energy storage) and triglycerides (a type of fat). High triglycerides are associated with increased risk for cardiovascular diseases. Your body needs sugar, but that doesn't mean processed fast foods are part of a healthy diet.

RXTZMafiaboyz Yes it can, but much of it converts to fat. The liver simply can't handle the volume of fructose added to foods. A normal amount is relatively easier to process. The glucose in HFCS goes straight to your bloodstream, and the rest of the body stores it as glycogen and fat. Most foods contain sugar or are converted to sugar, so added sugar creates a bit of a storage problem.
