conan 263 When you agree with them, it's good journalism. When they say something that makes you uncomfortable, it's fake news.

@bobbeckey6941 1) Well if you're trying to influence liberals, your first thought wouldn't be "I'll get a fat guy because fat people look stupid." I'm liberal and it's pretty typical to say weight has no bearing on brainpower. He was on point and a good interview, I don't see anything even remotely biased or controversial about the selection. 2) What would you like them to show? Anything could be viewed as trying to influence your feelings. I equate environmentalism with the desire for a clean planet, is that wrong? Is it wrong to associate mines with mining? You're reaching on this one. 3) The interviewers aren't supposed to be making statements. It was up to the people being interviewed. I certainly didn't get the impression they didn't talk about community impact, that seemed the focus largely. I don't think you cleared anything up, but you sure acted like an expert to add credibility to your opinion. And thanks for sharing your opinion.

Rock Fella Judging by the fact you would judge someone's intelligence by their appearance, you're rather stupid. From your tendency to dis people you don't know, I can't say you're an okay person whether or not I get to know you.

Vice has been pretty consistent with good journalism. The "problem" occurred when they started showing you things you didn't want to see. It's good to see thousands of conservatives complaining about "objectivity" every time some video makes them look bad. I'm supposed to look at snippets of antifa fighting back and conclude "they're all thugs," and then watch journalists get beaten by white supremacists and conclude "fake news." Thanks for displaying the hypocrisy so enthusiastically.

@bobbeckey6941 Lay it on us, expert.

@bobbeckey6941 Still waiting.

@wisenber You're making his point for him. The one person who doesn't agree with the other replies and you can't stop trying to jump on him. Same with Vice.
2
@wisenber I would have thought you'd stop but you seem determined to make my point. There are lots of comments in this thread, but the only ones that need repeated replies are the ones that say things you don't agree with. The whole reason this is funny is watching you do it by saying you aren't.
2
@wisenber I'm just going to take a moment to chuckle. Have a nice doing whatever you think you're doing.
2
No, it's just when the subject matter bothers you that there's a problem. The only way to keep you comfortable would be to remove all sources of news except the ones that tell you what you like hearing.

It's hard that mining is considered a good job. Like factory work or prostitution.
1
@methodman8312 Yeah, whoever lives in the country with the worst environmental laws and lowest wages. Mining could be a good job, we just like giving rich people easy money.
1
@BlueHazeYota Taking care of your home base also means keeping it livable for the next generation. We shouldn't be in a race to the bottom for environmental care, that doesn't jive with the best country in the world.
1
Gorden Gecko Excuse me? Come work with me, I'll see how many minutes you last. Drywall, steel stud framing. I'm saying mining with lax regulations and prostitution are both bad jobs. Mining causes all sorts of respiratory and other conditions, prostitutes run the risk of getting STDs, or getting robbed or beaten. Americans should be getting free postsecondary education, nobody should be forced into mining or prostitution. Even the trades are a better choice. "You've probably never worked" that's snowflake talk.
1
@bluesfan6862 Yeah, I guess it's just something other countries are good at. America used to try things before giving up, but good point.
1
@methodman8312 I have never once said "stop mining" or anything similar. However, mining, like all other jobs, should be done with a view towards our continued existence on Earth. We shouldn't be racing with other countries to do the most pollution while paying the lowest wages and having the most deaths.
1
@methodman8312 And you literally said the same thing two days ago, I'm aware of your opinion and I didn't disagree. "Someone's gotta do it." Yup. Should it be for the lowest possible wages, worst environmental laws and most deaths?
1
Trump doesn't work with tradesmen, he gets foreigners and cheap labor. Trump towers are basically defects attached to lawsuits with funny rules like "don't open too many doors because the elevator won't work." I'm a tradesman, I would never spend a second working for someone who lowers wages by bringing foreign "tradesmen" who can be shipped out if they complain about being asked to build cheap crap.
1
@Noadvantage246 Most people who watch their videos like them, but there's a huge number of conservatives that link to the video just to leave a comment about how "Vice used to be good." Like a dedicated misinformation campaign.
1
@TripleAstyle1 Been going on for days without an example. Pretty simple.
1
@michaelattisha5964 Vice has never pretended to be news, and there's always something entertaining about something so "blatantly obvious" that zero quantifiable examples can be given.
1
@michaelattisha5964 That's great, so no examples. So obvious you can't find a single one to show me. You're awesome.
1
@michaelattisha5964 I also can't find your "butt weed article." You got a title for that?
1
@michaelattisha5964 Blatant has the denotation of you should be able to point to an example, and obvious also denotes you should be able to point to an example. Butt weed.
1
@michaelattisha5964 Found the article about "butt weed." No, a suppository is not "smoking weed out of someones behind."
1
Hush, there's only room for one reality, maybe two....
1
@waymansmith6708 That's because Democrats made crack more affordable. If it was up to Republicans we'd all be smoking bargain basement crack at sky-high prices.
1
@wisenber LOL now you're doing it with me. Good job.
1
@jonathanxavier2026 Dammit I miss the days when you were objective.
1
Felix Stotts Really? So the guy who just replied with "They went from making genuinely good documentaries from dangerous locations, to over-hyping ordinary stories to try and get more viewers" doesn't know what he's talking about? They've always been heavily biased? I guess you replied to the wrong person.

@ChristoCurrents Their reporting stayed the same, the subject matter changed. They used to send reporters all over the world and still do, but there are huge stories in America they were ignoring. They've shed light on some domestic terror groups and there has been rage over it from conservatives, but the reporters aren't making the white supremacists and wannabe fight club participants look bad, it's the video that displays their words and deeds. I've been with Vice since the start. Their staff has changed but their mandate hasn't. The America Vice is showing isn't sensationalized, this bullshit is happening in front of us and we're powerless to stop it. Also, I can't help but laugh at the idea Vice is sensationalized when I read the comment section, which is invariably about Antifa burning every city to the ground and how Biden's a socialist. Maybe you're a bit sensationalist.
1
@ChristoCurrents Every single video uploaded on YouTube is clickbait, from every source. I don't see "clickbait" as being a legit complaint unless the thumbnali or title lies to you. "Please buy me" has been a sign attached to the news since the inception of journalism.
1
@ChristoCurrents Gonna need an example, this is getting a little too "feelings."
1
@ChristoCurrents So your interpretation of the title is the only opinion possible? I thought it was a message to Democrats, that winning over miners doesn't involve keeping mines closed, and making promises you know you can't keep is bad policy? Plus, calling them a "Trump supporting town" when they voted Clinton? To me it seemed like they gave the Dems plenty of leeway, but I suppose my "clickbait erection" is clouding my judgement.
