@jaxfang No, the Trump administration wasn't going to build a wall at all. He allowed himself to be badgered into doing it for right-wing nutjobs like Ann Coulter. Before she bitched about it, the wall was just a broken promise meant to secure the highest office in the land, and you fell for it. That's why Trump kept saying the wall was already being built: he had no intention of keeping his promise. When you say there are "other effective factors" you make it sound like a wall is effective, when most illegals cross legally, so that's a bit of a lie. Walls are effective for countries like East Germany. When you want to cripple your economy, I highly advise a combination of walls, tariffs and tax breaks for multi-billionaires. "If you understood basic developments of belief systems in the field of psychology, you wouldn’t be saying what you are." That's completely unworthy of a response. I'm ignorant because I don't agree with you? Yeah, good job trying to make anybody change their minds. Should I stoop to your level? No, abstract means considering the ideas separate from any incidents or specifics. The abstract idea of a wall is fine, but once you look at the evidence it shows diminishing returns. We can't consider the evidence abstractly, because that would be the exact opposite of abstract. Check with your psychology teacher.

@warrenp8877 He's not in prison with them. He "operates" 3000 roofing crews. How many crew bosses do you think told their boss they have illegals working for them? You know how many guys are going to jeopardize their own job telling their boss about something so trivial? The businesses that accept illegal immigrants don't care how they entered the country. They're hiring illegals for profit, why would they do a survey? They don't know, and they don't care. If that guy knows how many illegals work for him and how they got into the country, isn't he the problem? How is a wall going to stop him from hiring illegals, since most of them enter the country legally? Don't worry, I don't expect any answers, as that would involve reasoning on your part.

@warrenp8877 The thing is, that's word of mouth versus actual people who were caught, so one stat is just more reliable. Actually, I don't know if I'd count word of mouth as a stat.

@jaxfang The wall costs too much for the very limited benefits it provides. Sorry, but if you want less illegal immigrants and increased border security, there are better ways to spend the money. Use "cognitive bias" or whatever buzzwords you've picked up to enhance your talking points, but without reason or facts nobody is going to change their mind. And I question your use of "abstractly." Once you start considering evidence, you're no longer considering an idea as abstract. But we're supposed to "study the evidence abstractly." Um, what?
