@John No, I would expect my neighbor to chip in on my broken leg, because I'd sure chip in for his and so would any neighbor. Oh, you're using the word neighbor to mean "someone I don't give shit about." My bad. But anyways, yeah bad things happen to people unexpectedly that's why we all look out for each other. Or some of us. Some of us just have a weird use for the word "neighbor."

@John Sad to hear you don't know your neighbors. Would you also say no to assistance in the case of a hurricane? Or does your insurer send a unit? If your house was on fire would you send the fire department away? Some people wouldn't like to pay for other people's houses to be extinguished. Would you like to work on your own vaccines and design your own treatments for diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's as well? How about providing for defence of your property in case of foreign invasion? Will you also be providing for the defence of every service you use? Will you also be providing every service you use? Some things we just make available because everyone needs them. When we pay the bill we can help control costs. But your way is awesome too, the private companies that small government would have to outsource to could provide you with a bill for every inch of sidewalk you walk on and every breath of air you breath from birth until death.

@John Well in Canada, American issues have this funny way of becoming our issues. For example the trucker convoy was mostly American funded (and the ideals seemed to spew straight from DJT and company), broken immigration in America leads to more stress on our system, America renegotiating fair deals in bad faith affects our exports. The China/USA trade war was and is huge in my trade, I was using timber meant for export to Japan for a bit. Lack of steel was putting jobs on hold. Plus I don't believe you can really solve all your problems, period. For example, how do you stop private individuals and corporations from trying to influence politics with money or power? How do you get the federal government to fix health care? That's a trick question because it's a pretty complex problem and the federal government isn't the only player. Some of these issues have really easy solutions, that are hard to implement in the face of individuals and corporations with immense influence, on both voters and politicians. But we still have parliamentary style representation, which I wouldn't change for the American system. I can vote for a third party and not feel like I let anyone down. Rant over, good morning.

@John About 68 percent of Americans want a public option, 55 percent want Medicare for all. Tough to get a vote in Congress though. Trump was well known for speaking about his awesome health care plan, whatever that might have been. Bernie Sanders got a standing ovation at Fox News when he asked the audience if they would rather have the government than their current insurance provider. Obamacare (ACA) ended up quite popular in some red states, they just renamed it. Americans vote on the economy, but a key concern rolled into that is spending on health care. Something that's going to increase as America ages (but let's not fix immigration). I'm not American either but they hate it when I talk about their politics. They never have problems yipping on and on about my country though so I feel like I get a pass.
