Maybe its because I'm not an American, but to me gun control doesn't feel like a political issue. To me its just common sense. My country does have one of the highest ratios of guns per people in the world, but no school shootings and Orlando stuff happens here.

Right now thats my best guess as well. Maybe he got depressed about a divorce and started to kill people. In that case he would remind me about the killer Mattias Flink who was a Second Lieutenant in the Swedish army and started to kill people because was drunk and had troubles with his girlfriend... so he killed 7 people with an assault rifle. However, this dude in Vegas seems much more scary and seems to have much more than just a temporary mental breakdown and alcohol or drugs. This shit seems very planned to me. He had been in this hotel for days. He positioned a camera outside his hotel room in case the police would show up. He brought a hammer to smash the windows so he could fire. And he bought 19 fire arms, and I guess he had atleast 2000 rounds of ammunition. And all this weapons had to be aquired from illegal sources (its hard to get fully automatic weapons I guess). So this killingspree was nothing that just happened over night. This shit seems planned.

My thougt as well when I compared the ak47 videos with the video from the shooting. My second best guess would be an M249. But I am not 100% certain which of it it is. The thing is that gun deaths is nowhere near American levels in other modern countries. And Europe do not have school shootings time and time and time and time again. Not all crimes can be prevented. But thats not the point either. The point with gun control is to heavily restrict the numbers of deaths.
