That is a lot of money. 100bn Euros... its like 2/3 of all yearly tax revenues for the Swedish government... or almost a third of Polands GDP.

@SunRaIV Here is an idea, how about Greece and Turkey give say 35 vehicles each? I mean it does not even have to be modern tanks. It can just be old garbage. M60 Sabra is old and is in a dead end, its probably cheaper and better to buy a new tank instead of trying to upgrade that old American tank with an absurdly high siluette. Sabra is inferior to the latest variants of Abrams, Leopard, Merkava, K2, Challanger, and Altay. It just costs money to upkeep and it must sooner or late be replaced one day by a better tank. So why then not just give away some tanks to Ukraine? Those M60 Sabras would probably be awesome on the Ukrainian battlefield vs old Russian T72 garbage tanks. And if Greece and Turkey can give away some tanks each, then you can cut down the arms race a bit, and ease tensions and save money. You will still have hundreds of tanks and be armed like Sparta even if you would give away as much as a hundred... so sure could a few dozen vehicles be spared. Cmon, let go of your russophilia.

Chinas military budget is now as large as that of USA. But when Germany is added to the mix... then will China hopefully realize that starting a world war will be a bad idea and that they likely will lose. And that is good for world peace. It is good for us. And I also think it is good for China in the long run. One day will their population start to decline, and their imperialist dreams will decline with it. And their useless Russian ally seems to be in a very bad shape by now with all heavy losses of military equipment and devestating economic sanctions.

German polticians have said never and done the opposite so many times before that I don't believe in them. Merkel and others have for 20 years said that it is 100% impossible to break free from dependency on Russian gas. But now have less than a year past and Germany is already 100% independent from Russian gas. It was also said it was impossible for Ukrainians to get proper training for Gepard and Panzerhaubitze 2000. But both those weapons are in Ukraine now, and Gepards are doing excellent despite being very old, and it is chewing up Iranian drones every day that the Russians try to use for terror bombings to murder civilians. And panzerhaubitze is very apprechiated by Ukraine, which says it is the best artillery in the world and have placed a large order on this artillery piece of over hundreds of vehicles. Over 200.000 German hand grenades have reached Ukraine, and millions of machine gun rounds of ammunition are now being used by Ukrainian troops, as MG3 (a copy of MG42 aka "Hitlers buzzsaw") are bringing death and feat to russian troops every day in Ukraine. So Germany has done a painful and impressive 180 turn in their politics. Its still frustratingly slow in Ukrainian and Polish eyes. But I think things have gone faster than what I expected. As a Swede I am extremely angry over Germanys reckless energy policy of the past - a policy which we Swedes have to pay for today with higher energy prices because of German energy imports. But for the sake of Ukraine cause of winning the war do I put the battle axe aside and let this issue go. A victory in Ukraine is more important. And this painful transition would probably not have been politically substainable to do if Germany had to carry all of its energy transition costs on its own in such a short period of time. So there has been a nice teamwork on this issue in the EU. Even a big hater of the EU like myself have to admit that. So now it seems like Putin no longer got an energy blackmail card that he can use against Europe.

This tank is a worthless death trap. So it is only good that we send it to Ukraine. Because then it will not escalate the conflict or risk making the Russians angry. And at the same time do we make Ukraine happy as they have begged for this tank a long time. So its a win - win for everyone involved. The Americans are happy that they do not need to send any M1 Abrams now when Leopard 2s are being sent instead. And there is no reason to worry about any technological theft, as the Russians consider this tank and old worthless death trap and will therefore not wanna copy it.

Will Germany say no to all its Nato allies and leave the club? I don't think so. Especially not for a country which consider international cooperation as a sacred ideal.

Britain promised to defend Ukraine in the Budapest agreement. It have not sent any ground troops to Ukraine. It have not bombed Russian troops or even estabilished a no-fly zone over Ukraine. Instead it have at most only done the bare minimum and sent some military equipment in aid to Ukraine. Doing anything less than that would be shameful.

Its possible that he knows and don't care about how many who dies. It is also possible that he don't really knows how to get out of this mess he have caused for himself. A wise leader would have pulled out and cut the losses, and hoped western sanctions would end as soon as possible. But Putin seems afraid of losing. The idiot is doubling down. He take the forces that remains and regroup them to Donbass. And gather some extra forces (reservists) and throw them into battle. Maybe he gamble and hope he wins. Personally I think everything about this was has been a mess for Russias part. If this war continue as before then Russia will soon run out of tanks a few months from now.

Now when Putin have cut off the gas to them should they realize that there is no reason to cuddle with Russia. Germany can now just as well go all in and support Ukraine now and hope for a speedy ending to this conflict. That will save their honor. But one could have wished that they had taken this morally correct decision earlier. Or that they at least have choosen to do so after talking with Ukraine and Germany's western allies in EU/Nato. Now will it likely be western Europes enemy Putin who instead forced Germany to take a correct morale stance in this conflict - and actively fight against wars of aggression, imperialism, genocide.etc,
