  1. The solution is Gripen. Cheap cost per plane, cheap cost per flight hour. Extremely capable modern plane.

  2. Ukraine is getting much economic aid by the nordic countries as well. Norway got its oil money so it have aldready donated large sums of money and only USA, Germany and perhaps Britain have given more. Sweden have also said itself to be willing to pay for Ukraines reconstruction. And the planes themselves will probably be paid for by Ukraine itself. Perhaps USA is willing to give extra economic aid if Ukraine buys lots of F16s, but Gripen is also a good choice for Ukraine as it is a better plane that is cheaper cost per plane and it is cheaper to fly per hour in the sky. Gripen is also friendly to a new pilot with a good cockpit layout, and it can fly on dispersed bases unlike F16 - which will make Gripen excellent for Ukraine. Gripen also carries all Nato ammunition, it is very stealthy, have excellent electronic warfare, it only needs 5 hours of maintence on the ground for every flight hour while other planes needs much more - even F16 which is one of the best planes in the world in this regard still needs 17 hours as a comparison. Gripen also only need a ground crew of 1 highly trained mechanic and 5 lowly trained conscripts - which can be compared to most other western fighter jets that needs a ground crew of 15-20 highly trained men. Gripen is so cheap that I think that Ukraine can afford to pay for 200 planes themselves. Ukraine is also ordering 1000 units of combat vehicle 90 from Sweden. So Ukraine is undergoing a big military build up now.

  3. Lend lease means that ukraine give back the west the weapons it have borrowed after the war. And the things that the russians destroyed is not going to have to be repaid. Only stuff that was not destroyed or returned is going to be paid for.

  4. As you said to Perun will those planes become valuable if this war becomes long and last for years. So it is a political statement that the west is willing to spend large amounts of money to help Ukraine, and also to do so in the long run if necessary. Those planes impact on the battlefield will not be that significant as there are too few planes and too few pilots. The best long term strategy would of course then be that the west trains say 200 young men with no previous flight experience into becoming pilots. This will take 2 years. But it is probably the only way Ukraine can get an air force with quantaty and quality needed. As it is now am I pessimistic. One german military blogger said in a video that most Ukrainian pilots cannot speak english so even if pilot training started today would still just say 20-30 pilots at most be able to participate in any training from the west. The other pilots speaks too poor english, and despite the war has been going on for 1.5 years now have they not bothered to learn any english despite months and months of begging for western jets. And if we are going to spend time on learning ukrainian pilots english - then of course will even more valuable time be eaten up. So I don't think we will see any Ukrainian F16 jets this year. And probably not for the first half of the next year either. Some people might be worried and upset about this. Upset how incompetent Ukraine have been to not prepare their pilots with a language course, or upset at Nato for all delays of giving those jets. But personally I mostly just view them as a long term political statement so I don't feel that upset as I think their impact on the war will be limited due to their small numbers.

  6.  @ulrikschackmeyer848  They have been fighting a war and maybe they are fully busy with that. So maybe I don't blame the pilots as much as I would blame the Ukrainian government for not thinking a single step ahead. This language problem was completly predictable and could have been foreseen and solved months ago. Realizing that they need to learn english in the middle of the summer of this year seems a bit dumb 🙄 I mean the west have talked about giving Ukraine fighter jets since at least january. Ukrainians take credit upon themselves and blame the lack of aid from the west for all military failures instead of being honest and admit that not everything is the wests fault. Dumb incompetence like this do certainly cause some problems fighting this war as well. Ukrainian propaganda is extremely dumb sometimes. They say that they will continue to fight regardless if the west helps them or not, and take the last years succesful defense of their country as an example of that. But that are lies. And I demand honesty and gratefulness to its allies instead of using them as scapegoats for ukraines dissapointments on the battlefields. Fact remains that Ukraine would have lost this war by now if it was not for the west. Without western artillery would the stocks of 152mm shells have runned out and the ukrainian military would have been forced to fight without artillery support - which would definatly made Ukraine lose the war regardless how brave their soldiers may be. Javelins, stingers, HIMARS, Patriot, Gepard are also system which Ukraine could not have done without. And the economic aid from USA and EU have been vital for propping up an economy suffering from enemy occupation, sea blockades, destruction, refugees, young men in the military, landmines on farmlands, energy blackouts, rationing... So giving west blame for everything is unfair. I sympatize with the Ukrainian cause as my web history the last 1.5 years bare witness of. I think it have taken 8 full months for just the training to get started. That is poor performance by both Nato and Ukraine. We should have started training instantly. Which aircraft would be delievered, in what amounts, with what modifications and what nationality of those planes and such details could be sorted out later while the pilots are training. But for some reason do people at Nato to be very inflexible in their line of thought 🙄
