It seems like this coup was a failure. Maybe he hoped that some Generals would come over to his side. His force was probably never 25.000 men. I mean remember I heard in march that only 7000 wagnerians was left in ukraine to fight so I doubt he have many troops left - especially after he no longer got supplied with new cannon fodder from prisoners. Had this plan worked out, then he should have tried to conquer as many towns as possible as soon as possible. Make Putins regime look unstable. Overwhelm Putins troops and hope they switch side or lay down their arms. The people prefer the chef over Putin, so now he only needs the support from oligarchs and the Generals. And with growing disatisfaction with Putin could many come over to Prigozin and his hidden friends would dare to openly support him. After that stage would he suddenly become powerful enough to challange Putin for real. Putin would be forced to end the war in Ukraine to put down the rebellion (because remaining in power is more important than fighting in Ukraine). However Prigozhins attempt failed to gain enough support and his tiny army is probably too small to win, and a loss in this war would cost Prigozhin his life. Belarus and Russia offered his troops amnesty if they gave up. They would not go to jail or suffer any punishment or negative consequences if they just give up peacefully. Prigozhin did not accept this offer. But later on he made peace with Russia. Personally do I think this idea of trusting Putins promises of amnesty would be idiotic. One can simply never trust his words. Putin would just act like the Danish King Christian II did after a long war against Sweden. He promised to forgive all his former enemies if they lay down their arms and acted loyal to him. No one would be punished. Everything was forgiven. Now everyone was friends he said. And he offered all Swedish nobles to come to the royal castle in Stockholm and eat dinner with him to celebrate the new peace. And that they did. And after the meal was eaten did Danish troops close all entrences to the building.. and man after man was dragged out and beheaded on the public square in an event known as Stockholms bloodbath - which later on caused anger and a rebellion that made my country declare independence for exactly 500 years ago on this day. It is possible that Prigozhin makes a stupid mistake by giving up now. I don't think Putin will ever forgive a thing like this. Was this coup fake and staged by Russia? - Likely not I think. I mean Putin seemed surprised by this matter. Russia today remained silent for many hours and not knowing what to say. And all pro-russian internet bots remained silent and didn't seem to know what narrative that they were going to spin, as Kremlin was not giving out any orders and didn't seem to know what to do. Putin may have secured his seat in power, however he have been coming out weaker after this incident. He no longer seem like this strong leader who have every Russian behind him and standing unified against a hostile outer world consisting of most countries on the planet. With one year left of the election can this possibly weaken him. However the military impact of this coup on the war in Ukraine is insignificant. No troops have been transferred to Moscow. And if fighting starts will it take time moving thousands of troops. So Ukraine will not be helped by this even here and now. Its not until russian troops have been removed from the frontline and moved that Ukraine could begin to exploit the situation. So this coups military impact in Ukraine have been insignificant.
