The reason why we spent money on those tanks to begin with was to preserve freedom, democracy and the future security of our part of the world (Europe).

Retreats are not victories. And catastrophic losses are not the same thing as progress. Russians probably see things that way. But the rest of the world don't.

Some truth to it. It was only bought as a bailout of the British arms industry after Iran got its orders for this tank cancelled after the Iranian coup in 1979. However the Britishers have upgraded and improved upon this tank so today it is for sure among the top 10 list of best tanks in the world.

Not a bad tank. It just havn't been upgraded for like 30 years because of the lack of funds. And as a result is it the crappiest Nato MBT of its generation.

Those tanks will cost tax payers money to maintain and to scrap to no usefulness what so ever. It is better then to just send them to Ukraine where they at least can be useful for someone. I am not a useful idiot for the city of London. But people with your opinions are useful idiots for the fascists in Kremlin. There is no money to be saved here by not giving Ukraine the weapons it needs to defend our freedom, our democracy and the future security of Europe. If you let Russia win, then you reward wars of aggression. You rewards theft of land. You let a country get a way with warcrimes and terrorism. You thereby creates the incentive for even more crimes to be made in the future. Russia and China will feel encouraged to start even more wars in the future and threatens world peace. And you will bring the world closer to world war and nuclear armageddon. It is therefore better to handle this problem now when Russia is still weak and has not annexed all of Ukraine and stolen all of its resources for its evil warmongering purposes.

I am against unnecessary wars, but I am all for necessary wars. Ukraine is a necessary war. A war for self-defence. Russia started an illegal, unjustified, unprovoced war. And now it must suffer the consequences or we will get even more wars in the future. As the pacifist Harry Järv said some wars are justified, Finlands war of self-defence against Soviet aggression by Stalin was one such war.

Northrop always build so extremely ugly aircrafts

Every thousand miles walk begins with one small step. If all of nato donates 10 tanks each per country it will add up to a lot. And also remember that 1 of our tanks are worth as much as 10 old crappy russian tanks. So even 200 tanks will therefore make a huge difference in Ukraine.

I strongly doubt there will ever be any Gripens over Ukraine due to the low numbers produced. Sweden does not even have enough planes for its own airforce so it will never happen. And new planes are not build like on a flip on a switch. Especially not modern fighter jets. Gripen E is probably the best fighter in the world right now, but that plane is rare as an unicorn, and Sweden would never risk its national security by giving away its only dozen of those. So the only option left would be to get Czech or Hungarian Gripens to Ukraine, but those Gripens are the old C variant which is a quite mediocre plane by modern standards compared to Eurofighter and Rafale. It would still be better than Russian planes, but its not a super weapon and the small number of planes will not make any significant difference in the air war over Ukraine.

The tank is here to stay for a long time. It will probably transform into something remote controlled in the future

UK have signed the Budapest agreement in which it promised to defend Ukraine if it was militarily attacked by a foreign power. That is the reason why UK is helping Ukraine. Stupid Rusbots are too dumb to understand this simple fact. Russia started this war. That is the only reason why Ukraine is getting military help. And if Rusbots do not like russians dying from western weapons, then you always have the option to go home. Leave Ukraine alone. Bastards.

@lancerevell5979 The Germans destroyed most of the T-34 tanks built under the war. Squire did say 80% of them went up in flames during the war. Furthermore, even if thousands were left, did most of those get sold of any many ended their days as burning wrecks in Korea and Israel. Crazy commy dictators would happily keep those relics, but the lack of spare parts would be a problem, altough it could probably be overcome by improvisation by a handy craftsman. Another problem is that those tanks were built according to Soviet quality standards. An engine was not built to last more than say 6 months, because that was the average time a Soviet tank survived in the war. So why then waste expensive materials and production time to make a good engine that lasts longer than those months? You could save both money and production time for a tank if you cut down production time to a minimum. Then you can build more tanks, and outproduce nazi-Germany. So that was what the Russians did. But after the war was it difficult to keep those tanks running. And add to that the problems of maintenance after the war, the rubber coating around all electric cables have problably dried up by now and all of them needs to be replaced. Spareparts are missing or have been stolen. So now decades after the war could Russia not find any T-34 tanks that it could drive on a parade to celebrate the end of World war 2. So the solution became that Russia imported some old T-34 tanks from Vietnam

Why are you obsessed with presenting a false choice? As you can only do one thing and not both
