  1. In hindsight it was a mistake. Just like siding with the Arabs against Israel for the sake of oil. Chinese bullying needs to stop. Taiwan is not alone. Other countries have also faced Chinese imperialism the last 100 years: Tibet, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and China is fighting about some territories in the pacific with the Phillipines and Japan. And the country fought with the Soviet union. So people are tired of the aggressive behaviour of the Chinese state. And the best way to stop this is to stick togheter towards China. If China wants to expand then it have to do so with the consent from the people. And that can only be obtained without genocide on the Uighurs, a police state in Hong Kong, bullying of Canada and Sweden, and censorship of the Chinese people. China needs to get rid of its opressive social credit system. And before China do this bare minimum required to be seen as an honourable country, then there is no reason to back off a hard stance towards this country. Personally I do not care if Taiwan joins China, as long as it is the will of the people in Taiwan. Right now do a Chinese ownership of Taiwan look like a more bad idea than ever. China have already shown the world that it doesn't care about keeping promises of giving its new territories freedom and democracy - as it have demonstrated recently in Hong Kong. China have abused its power to break every promise it have given other countries. China have thereby shown itself to be a liar. It doesn't believe in moral principles. It believes in "might makes right" - like evil empires and comic book villains do.
