I hear the rhetoric, but it seems that the evidence points to the conclusion that the attack wasn't against people because they were Asian, but because he associated them with sex workers. As far as I know, he didn't attack any Asian restaurants or nail salons.

@danielvonliechtenstein8742 Unfortunately, in the absence of other evidence, we are usually forced to take criminals' statements for why they did their crime. For example, we are ready to assume that arsonists and looters did their crimes because they claim to be seeking justice for Michael Brown or George Floyd. Perhaps he did have a grudge against these establishments he frequented, but does that prove a racial motive? If he's an anti-Asian bigot, why did he frequent the establishments in the first place?

@danielvonliechtenstein8742 Don't get me wrong, I agree with you about not just taking the words of criminals. It's just that the media want to fan this into something to get ratings based on their own agenda... which is to spread racial discord. I don't see how they can presuppose in one situation but NOT the other. It does, however, seem that he attacked a certain kind of establishment, but not others, which might give some veracity to his statement. I believe that he also shot some Caucasians at those establishments as well.
