I am a light skinned variety of human. I went to live for a year in Italy. I was constantly experiencing the kind of behaviour that might be described as racist. I know that if anyone, regardless of skin tone, living in UK, was treated in the way that I was in Italy, the vast majority of my fellow Brits would be up in arms and enforce our anti discrimination laws against the assailants. If anyone says that we, the British are inherently racist, I would suggest they try living in any other country for a while. Then come home to their lovely home with a new attitude.

@rexona1178 My mum is German, my dad part Irish/English. I remember growing up in rural England in the 60s and 70s. We never saw anyone different. When I was a young adult I went to live in London and suddenly learnt what multiculturalism actually meant. I was working, living amongst and socialising with people from all over the world. Live in london, see the world. What I never experienced was any tension, prejudice or mistrust. I just have no idea where this current divisive narative has come from. The "racism" that did exist was mostly due to ignorance and lack of sophistication. I personally think England is now, one of the most grown up countries in the world. Anyone coming here is welcome aboard as long as they pull their weight. I have lived in many countries, like yourself. You are right this is the most open minded country.

@johnnicol64 I am married to a very lovely Egyptian wife. She is a social snob and makes no secret of her dislike of certain peoples. I have warned her that she should keep that to herself in England.

@bahoonies If all practioners of Islam or any other religion, were to practice what was intended, rather that some self proclaimed ideological version. That wouldn't be the case. My wife is an exciting handful for many reasons, very few to do with religion.

@bahoonies You are a clear example of the type of person I was talking about. Everything that you think you know is a propaganda piece that's been told to you. I have read the Quran and the Hadith. You have not. What you have done is prove that you are no better than the other functionally illiterate chumps you find in any place of worship, football playground or pub. Please do tell me the chapters where what you have said is written. You can't because that is not what it says. The version you speak of is the moron who can't read but has a dad who is a racist nutter version. I have met many like you.
