@darkscorpion6534 You're happy that a species which plays a vital role in nature is endangered? I guess you're also happy that elephants and rhinos are endangered then? What are you, five?
6
@darkscorpion6534 You mean, other than the fact that them going extinct would completely mess up the ecosystem due to there then being no predators to control the population of other species? Also: I'm guessing you don't care if things like rhinos, tigers, elephants, etc, also go extinct?
4
@darkscorpion6534 You do realise there's a reason they're protected by conservation, right?
3
@420thSFG To keep the ecosystem(s) of the area intact. Wolves (and other predators) help to control the population of other species. If we remove predators, the other species (deer, boar, etc) will overpopulate, which will cause a lot of damage to the ecosystem.
3
It is if you use "dog" as a blanket term to refer to all members of the canidae family.
3
@patrikpersson9364 Only invasive species destroy ecosystems. Native ones do not. If wolves were "destorying and killing everything in their way" and "turning the area into animal desert containting only birds and rodents", then they would have done hundreds, if not thousands of years ago. The whole reason they reintroduced wolves is to help the ecosystem. That's kinda the whole point of conservation, after all: to make sure ecosystems remain intact.
2
@Antonya944 I think he's been watching to much Disney.
2
@patrikpersson9364 Says the person who clearly thinks Disney movies (and stories such as "Little Red Riding Hood") are based on real life. Yeah, wolves may be destructive in areas where they're not native to (but that's the norm with invasive species), but they are not destructive in ecosystems which they are native to (such as Yellowstone).
2
It's nature
2
@patrikpersson9364 Well done for describing humans. Also: do you think lions, leopards and hyenas "devastate, demolish and kill" everything in Africa?
2
@AdolfKitler Ask any zoologist, they'll tell you that predators are vital to the ecosystem.
1
@CutieHoney13 Even then, hyenas aren't doing that to be cruel.
1
@ciro79 So, you eat meat yet you get upset at wolves for eating meat? You, sir, are a hypocrite.
1
The ecosystem would probably disagree
1
@freedomlover8412 You do know Nat Geo get most of their information from researchers, right?
1
@justinvarghese6852 The people who want wolves killed off want the ecosystem destroyed.
1
For you have any idea how nature works?
1
@stillhunterman And it was also wildlife scientists who helped reintroduce the wolves, and also wildlife scientists that found out predators play a vital role in the ecosystem.
1
@stillhunterman Predators are still 100% vital to the ecosystem (just ask any zoologist)
1
@alfonsklasener7462 Why do you want the ecosystem destroyed?
1
Predators are VITAL to the ecosystem. Without them, other species would overpopulate. So your comment of "wolves are unnecessary for nature" is a complete lie.
1
You could look up information from researchers, since all that information is 100% true.
1
@NFC369 There's no lizard species bigger than Komodo dragons still alive, so Abbey is right.
1
@NFC369 So did a lot of other reptiles. Your point is?
1
@NFC369 I never said they were an evolution.
1
How can an animal that plays a vital role in the ecosystem is "not healthy" for the ecosystem. I guess you think lions aren't healthy for the African ecosystem?
1
No, wolves did NOT destroy the ecosystem. They helped the ecosystem. The only things that damage ecosystems are invasive species and humans.
1
Also, are you seriously getting angry at nature? Hate to break this to you bud, but nature doesn't care about your feelings.
1
@bricehenry1223 Well, they aren't exactly harming crops, farm animals and game in the WILD, now, are they?
1
@justinvarghese6852 In reality, it's humans who are causing elk numbers to fall.
1
@bricehenry1223 Wolves ARE wildlife, though. And going by your logic of "wolves are destroying Yellowstone", then I guess you think lions are destroying Africa?
1
@bricehenry1223 Wolves were here long before us, and I'm pretty sure the ecosystem was doing just fine back then.
1
@bricehenry1223 Wolves are vital to the ecosystem. They help to control the population of other species. You can just ask any zoologist about the role wolves play in the ecosystem.
1
@bricehenry1223 How about the fact that wolves are a species that had existed here naturally for thousands of years? They weren't introduced by humans, you fool.
1
@bricehenry1223 Just ask any zoologist, they'll tell you that wolves existed before us and that they play a vital role in the ecosystem, which proves that that is the case.
1
@bricehenry1223 Wolves play a vital role in the ecosystem: that's scientific fact (just ask any zoologist). Why do you want the ecosystem destroyed?
1
Brice, why are you getting mad at nature? Wolves are NOT wiping out the elk, LIAR! If they were, elk would have gone extinct thousands of years ago, and you KNOW that. You're just up to make wild animals look like the "bad guy" when all they're doing is trying to survive. And how is an animal that plays a vital role in the ecosystem "useless vermin".
1
@patrikpersson9364 Wolves don't damage ecosystems, only humans and invasive species do
1
@patrikpersson9364 The fact the ecosystem's been doing fine without humans for several million years literally proves you wrong.
1
@patrikpersson9364 Nature's been managing itself for millions of years.
1
@patrikpersson9364 If that were true, then why didn't Yellowstone becoems desert thousands of years ago? Plus, it has been proven by the biologists in Yellowstone that the wolves are HELPING the ecosystem.
1
@patrikpersson9364 "Leaving wolves to manage themselves will end in disaster" the fact nature's been doing quite well for millions of years without us "managing" stuff literally proves you WRONG.
1
Well, most of the time, the people making the documentaries get their information from people who study hyenas out in the wild. And I'm pretty sure the researchers would know how much they hunt vs how much they scavenge.
1
Wolves literally ARE native to Yellowstone. Wolves have been living in Yellowstone for thousands of years, which makes them 100% native. Do some homework.
1
nature isn't "fake and all lies".
1
@patrikpersson9364 It's 100% FACT that wolves are vital to the ecosystem. Without predators (such as wolves), other species would overpopulate.
1
@Antonya944 Ironic how a group called "Save Western Wildlife" would be anti-wolf. Kinda contradicts their own name.
1
@Jay-ku3ur Maybe you should ask the biologists in Yellowstone if the wolves are negatively impacting the ecosystem.
1
@patrikpersson9364 At least the wolves aren't destroying the ecosystem (plus, they WERE reintroduced with good intentions).
1
@Jay-ku3ur At least the wolves were reintroduced with good intentions, though.
