  1. ​ @lutilda I don't think that any member of the government is a bishop. There are a small number in the House of Lords, but they are not part of the government. It is very anachronistic that they are there, but apart from holding a tiny percentage of the votes in the advisory chamber, they carry no material power.

  2. I think I ticked Christian on the census, but I don't believe in God or attend church. But I was baptized as an infant and got married in church, where I had to pretend to believe. And for educational reasons, I attended church for some years as well because the church schools are so much better in my area. So don't believe the numbers because the question wasn't "do you believe in God?"

  3. Here in the UK I am happy to identify as an atheist, but if I moved to the US I would identify as a Catholic agnostic, or just Catholic. Atheism carries too much baggage.

  7. Donald Trump has never shown any religious leanings, yet all he had to do was show enthusiasm for Christianity on a few occasions and the evangelicals loved him.
