As a non-American, I'm very relieved that I don't live there, but at the same time feel sad to see the country sliding towards a form of fascism.

I disagree that a government can "always afford to fund anything they want." A small country with a poor credit rating soon finds that printing money fails - some yes, but eventually money loses its value. The US has the strongest position however because global commodities are priced in USD and it's has the world's largest economy so it can (and has) printed vast amounts of money with negligible ill-effects.

@ericsmith3495 often a huge give away that someone is a troll is their user name and joining date. Russia created a huge number of troll accounts around that time and has been doing so ever since. An account that is recent and has no other life to it other than making superficial anti-democrat attacks is usually a troll. But the party of cancel culture really is the republican party. How many books in schools has it banned? I don't think we have ever seen such a rise in censorship as under the recent far right extremist raft of Republican politicians. It is scary.

@ericsmith3495 how many people were convicted as part of the Muller investigation? Whether there was any conscious collusion, I don't know, but we know for sure that the Russian intelligence agencies were responsible for most of the MAGA pro-Trump memes on Twitter and face. And you have to ask why your obvious enemy is supporting you? Unless you believe that your obvious enemy is your friend, in which case you're a fool.

@ericsmith3495 I was thinking about To Kill a Mockingbird, the most banned book in American schools. But yes, books that deal with themes of racism, interracial love and homosexual love are commonly banned. It seems like the far right snowflakes can't handle novels with topics like these. Fair enough that raunchy stuff like Lady Chatterley's Lover doesn't appear in schools either.

@ericsmith3495 it turned out not be be evidenced, and quite unreliable, yet the Muller investigation resulted in 8 convictions of Trump associates. You don't need to scratch very deeply into the Trump universe to find criminality. A fish rots from its head.

@ericsmith3495 but the Steele dossier is nothing in comparison to what Trump did post the November 2020 election. Justice moves slowly but surely.

@ericsmith3495 - he wouldn't necessarily be locked up already. The wheels of justice have been turning slowly but surely. Gathering evidence takes time. We haven't even finished the January 6th committee. Arrests will follow the fake elector scheme, but that investigation is still in-flight. The Presidential records case is a different matter. While it is 100% clear he broke the law, it may not be worth pushing charges. However, Trump needs to be questioned as to why he was hanging onto them.

@DanielPlainview-z1x the poster I referred to had all the characteristics of being a professional Russian troll - part of the Kremlin's Internet Research Agency that pays thousands of people to spend all day online making comments like he did.
