  1. Modern religion is often so conflated. Do other intelligent beings exist? are these intelligent beings better or worse than us? Are these beings god like in that they don’t need to conform to the rules of our universe? Should we worship them? Do they have a superior moral and ethical code? Is this moral and ethical code unchanging over time? If so why? None of this requires “belief”. Many separate questions all conflated together along with “belief”. That premise doesn’t make sense when you think about it.

  2. Another point is: Theism isn’t binary. It’s not “you believe, or you don’t”. It’s not “you’re theistic, or you’re not”. People can have varying understandings of the word. We can look into the unknown and theorise what’s beyond it, and that can be slightly or heavily theistic, and you wouldn’t be wrong because no one actually knows what lies in the unknown. But it’s all guesswork and hypotheses until we actually investigate and see what is actually there. I’d rather live in a world where we explore and validate our hypotheses.

  3. 12:40 I think you’re also conflating religion practice and participation with actual belief too. People can be anywhere on that spectrum.
