I've known quite a few disabled children who were loved and valued as children and, funny enough, were loved and valued as adults too. In fact, I have yet to meet someone who loves special needs babies and hates special needs adults. I also find people with special needs tend to have a much better outlook on life when the people around them don't imply they shouldn't exist.
6
So, just so I'm clear, you believe we should confront adults with disabilities and ask them if they'd rather be dead?
5
May I ask how you would answer if I asked you if you would want to live the rest of your life as a burn survivor? Or a victim of severe assault? Paralyzed? Blind? In extreme poverty? A veteran with PTSD? If your answer is no, does that mean people who do fit these descriptions shouldn't be here?
4
@jackwilson5542 Just to clarify, do you make this comment as someone who is just unaware of the many disabled people who live full, happy lives or are you simply pretending they don't exist?
3
@jackwilson5542 You believe in a person's right to die if they explicitly choose, but you believe this baby had no right to live without being able to explicitly choose. You believe the baby should have been killed in the womb because of his disabilities, but that people with those same disabilities outside the womb should not be killed. You believe the baby will have a miserable life, but you acknowledged people with disabilities can live good lives. You believe he should not live because he was disabled before birth, but believe people should be able to live if they become disabled after birth. You believe it is selfish that his parents accepted him with his disabilities, but not selfish to kill him for his disabilities. Your belief system is nothing but contradictions.
3
@ethelcowieson1696 Your own life could look radically different in 20 years. So many harsh trials and tribulations you could face. And yet your life would hold no less value than it does right now.
3
Selfish for loving their baby for who he is, but not for ending his life because he is imperfect. This backwards way of thinking is so sad.
3
I can appreciate that you didn't come on here with the vile language that so many others did, but struggle to think I should respect a parent who kills their child for being disabled. It is quite sad to me that so many place no value on the lives of special needs people. Especially since all it takes is one accident or sickness for us to find ourselves in their shoes.
2
We have truly deteriorated as a society when we label parents as cruel when they love their disabled baby yet label parents as loving when they throw their disabled baby away.
2
You should look up Harmonie-Rose Allen. And perhaps also remember there are many, many adults with severe disabilities who live full, happy lives.
2
Yes, cute babies often have difficult lives. Fortunately, this little one is blessed with parents who love him and will support him through those difficulties.
2
Some believe special needs people have the right to exist.
1
These parents were aware their unborn baby would be disabled. They loved him anyway.

I highly recommend you look up Nick Vejicic. He was also born without limbs and he is living life to the fullest. So is Harmoni Rose Allen, a young girl who lost her limbs from meningitis and continues to be a happy, active child.
1
@jackwilson5542 I highly recommend you look up Nick Vujicic. He will prove you quite wrong. This idea that it is selfish to value your disabled child's life and loving to throw them away for being disabled is such a sad, backwards way of thinking.
1
@jackwilson5542 This is a false, backwards way of thinking.
1
@jackwilson5542 Look up Nick Vujicic. He will prove your backwards way of thinking quite wrong.

@jackwilson5542 This way of thinking is false and backwards.
1
@jackwilson5542 Just to clarify, do you say that because you are unaware of the many special needs people living full, happy lives or simply pretending they don't exist?

@roar44879 The potential for suffering is a not an argument for abortion. We all have the potential for suffering. Many people born healthy suffer later. Many people expected to suffer live full, happy lives. You also missed the entire point of my comment. I was pointing out to the OP that the same people who love and value special needs children also love and value them as adults.
1
There is a child named Harmonie-Rose Allen who will prove you quite wrong if you look her up. And, of course, so would any other person living a full life in spite of severe disabilities.
1
Well, there's certainly a lot of people saying it in the comment section so I'm not sure your point is being made....

@wyleecoyotee4252 @jackwilson5542 That guy's life is going to be hell. It is selfish from them not to get an abortion @july77773 Stop thinking about yourselves. Think of this persons lifelong struggles and hardships. You are selfish. @marcoschmidt4862 You have condemned your child to a miserable life out of sheer selfishness. Ugh! @Rimmanessa Why did she give birth to him? @j.daniels1548 This is cruel to give birth to a baby with defects like this if you knew beforehand Happy to share more unless you'd like to just scroll through and read them yourself.

100% yes! People who dehumanize others are some of the most miserable people in the world. It is quite sad.
1
Because some people believe disabled people should not be killed.
1
Does the potential for suffering remove a person's right to live? If so, none of us would be here because we all have the potential for suffering.
1
@user-mm4ez4bh7e My question was if you believe a person loses their right to live based on their potential for suffering. I'm genuinely interested in your answer.

Would your loved one's value decrease in your eyes if they suddenly found themselves unable to do these things?

I highly recommend you look into Nick Vujicic to see an example of the potential this child has.

@Thatgirlchey626 There's no harm in having questions. Just remember that disabilities don't diminish a person's value or their right to live. You should look up Nick Vujicic! He also has no limbs and lives a very full life. There's also a very happy, active little girl named Harmonie Rose Allen who lost all her limbs from meningitis. It's also quite amazing to see what Paralympics' athletes can do. I watched a man with deformed legs and no arms win a gold medal in the backstroke! You should check it out!

@Thatgirlchey626 There's nothing wrong with having questions. Just remember disabilities do not diminish a person's value or right to live. We could all be one sickness or accident away from a debilitating disability. You should look up Nick Vujicic, a man just like Bryson who lives a very full, busy life! There's also a very happy, active little girl named Harmonie Rose Allen who lost all her limbs from meningitis. It's also quite amazing to see what Paralympics' athletes can do. I'd also encourage you to look up Nick Vujucic for just one example of how full and inspirational this baby's life could one day be.

You must have never seen Harmonie-Rose Allen. How far we've deteriorated as a society when we label parents who embrace their disabled children as selfish and parents who throw their disabled children away as loving.
1
How fortunate Bryson is that they did not see his life as a choice, but something to be valued.
