Flint still has bad water, in fact all of SE Michigan has arsenic in the water table (even white people areas). I’ve taken a loss before and had to walk away and start over. I’ve moved across the country twice with nothing and I’ve had guns pulled on me in ghettos 3 times. Know what I did, moved away from the ghetto and made a better life. I’m white, but was raised of 7 mile just outside Detroit city limits (it’s a hellhole for a good distance past city limits). If people don’t want to take a loss and move, change their lifestyles and the way their kids act and make the area worth investing in. Nobody cares about a bunch of people who say they are suffering but have 17 pairs of Jordan’s and 24’s on their cars and dropped out in middle school. Nobody wants to invest in a place you can’t take your kids to the park without there being dope needles and hookers everywhere. You can’t wear nice shoes or coat or might be robbed. Can’t get a nice tv, because when you come back from work it will probably be gone and you’ll have a broken window to replace. People can keep blaming everything on race and see where that goes, or be the change to make things better.

Where do you make $200k a year? could it be a city? Where do you make $25k a year, the country. What are near cities because they need a large amount of employees? That's right boys and girls, factories. Does every American have the ability to sell their home and live elsewhere? Bringing up maps with rules from the 30's (90 years ago) no longer applies. Were there injustices in our history, yes. Do many of them still apply today, no. The county i live in that is very very white, 4/10 home have overly high Radon, darn racism. PS most of SE Michigan has high Arsenic in their water. Darn racism. Also there is lead in fruit juice, Apple juice is allowed to have more than other fruit juices. Darn racism. When we stop making everything about race and realize it's the wealthy screwing us all now, we can move forward together. Until then, this is what they want.

I like John Oliver, but my family never owned slaves. Didn’t live here while slavery existed. Didn’t profit in any way from slavery. Keep your hands off my taxes and my life. Wanna know who needs to pay these reparations? The people that their family DID own slaves. Look into CEOs and the corporate elite. How do you think they got there. Why should we get again bail them all out? Who sold the slaves and profited from it? Most African nations still to this day have slavery. I’d put money on it the owners descendants of McDonald’s and all the energy companies probably owned slaves. Why should I pay? We don’t all need to be punished because rich people screwed people, but that’s what seems to happen every single time.

daughter was home schooled 3 years. this is her first year of high school, 4.0 so far at a charter academy that teaches java coding and all sorts of things you don't normally do until college. Joined a D & D club, she's an amazing kid. People should stop knocking homeschooling and start knocking bad parenting. Like some stranger getting paid as much as a dish washer can teach 40 kids that are all on their phones and know it all.

@guzkus1 that redlining and banking issue was in 1930, times have changed. If urban areas wanted to improve, they should start by sending their kids to school and demanding good grades, get rid of the dope houses and drive-bys. Those area are terrible for the most part because the people that live in those areas make those areas terrible places that aren’t worth investing in when you can’t go for a walk without potentially being shot for a pair of shoes or a coat. I was raised off 7 mile just outside Detroit, it’s a wasteland. Anyone who truly wants to better their lives will do whatever it takes to leave, the rest that sit around and watch dope dealers and hookers dominate their neighborhoods and do nothing to stop it are enablers. Somebody has to work at these factories. Somebody then must live near these factories. Capitalism is to blame for not running clean businesses, but this all goes far beyond race. If it’s all about race answer this. If all the black people moved away from the factories and white people moved in, do you think factories would stop polluting? No, they wouldn’t. Everything being about racism just keeps poor losers arguing between each other instead of uniting against the obvious enemy of the people.

@guzkus1 how far do you want to drive to work a crap factory job at $4 a gallon? Also the schools are crap because the students are crap. If they got good test scores they would qualify for money from the government. At 16 in an urban school I attended over half the class couldn’t name the capital of the state they lived in, but knew all about guns and drugs and cooking crack. Sadly people in the ghetto don’t teach their kids anything useful I’ve seen them teaching 6-8 year olds how to crip walk at Long Beach Harbor. Look at rap music, that’s what I would mostly blame, Hero’s in the hood are crack dealers and murderers and rappers rapping about dealing crack and murdering. Sometimes the truth hurts. Doesn’t hurt me, I got far away from all that.

Ever had a gun pulled on you for a skateboard or being in a neighborhood while white? Some areas aren’t worth investing in fixing, flat out, they would only be destroyed the moment you fix them. Everyone renting anywhere needs to seriously cancel their rent and walk away and if necessary live in a vehicle or a home owned by a friend or relative. 1 year without renters would crumble these d bags.

@pie0ful i went to public school. My teachers didn’t have time to care about all there students and that was 26 years ago. Now they have shootings to worry about too. This charter school is amazing. She loves her teachers, they have multiple world championship awards in robotics. It’s like she’s in college pretty much and this is her freshmen year. All public school does is hold intelligent children back, since no child can be left behind.
