  7. @mat House I'm glad you asked. A scientific fact is a verifiable observation. As long as something has been observed, it is a fact. Observation is not limited to our standard senses, either. We can use instruments such as microscopes and radar for example. A scientific theory is a well tested explanation of one more facts. For example, Einstein's theory of general relativity is an attempt to explain the observed fact of gravity. Similarly, Darwin's theory of evolution attempts to explain the observed fact of evolution.

The theory of evolution is an attempt to explain how evolution occurs. That explanation (theory) includes natural selection, mutation, founder's effect, etc. Its just like how any theory of gravity (Newton or Einstein) is an attempt to explain the fact of gravity.

However not only do most studies prove that poll wrong, but that poll included social scientists. I'll admit that the source you found came to the wrong conclusion. The overwhelming majority of sources conclude that roughly 1/3 of all scientists believe in god.
