Capitalism doesn't provide as much social mobility as people say it does, it doesn't provide as much social mobility as democratic socialism does, or another progressive economic system and form of government. We can do better and we deserve better, the only people who benefit from us believing that Capitalism is the best we can do is the current elites. Wealth inequality is worse today than it was under feudalism. There are more people living in poverty than any other point in human history. The middle class is disappearing, which is something we all know, so why are we pretending that isn't happening? Billionaires are extracting more wealth from us than ever and homelessness is on the rise, things are not okay. Capitalism was a step up from what came before but it's an outdated system we should have moved beyond decades ago. Our economic system should change with the times.

Most people who are politically engaged want the world to change in one way or another, they want the politics of the world to move in one direction or another. The world is shaped by politics, everyone living in the world has had their lives shaped by politics. Choosing to be "apolitical" just means choosing to not engage with politics and trying to change society, it's a decision to just accept the politics of the world we currently live in, to accept the status quo, and let society change them, rather than try to have an informed opinion and change society. Watch this video again with that framing in mind and I think you'll understand what I mean.
