  1. That is a genuine concern, but mainly concerning the approach the state would take. Just appropriating the utility companies that already operate in Maine would lead to a ton of costly legal hangups, while starting from scratch would require a consistent effort lasting for decades.

  2. Not just necessities. Anything where people will pay no matter the price, given the means to do so. Like communication infrastructure or insurance.

  3. I don't understand why any good or service with a vertical demand curve should be privatized. All it does is give corporations free rein to set prices.
