Looks cool, but I'm not sure if it's actually an SUV
37
This car is from 2014 and has since then depreciated by ~70% in 8 years, which is actually decent considering the MSRP.
23
You had to get it repaired at Radio Shack
22
They probably renamed it for the European market.
19
I really wish the lower window was a thing on crossovers, because you can hardly see where you're parking most of the time with those things. In fact, it should be a standard feature of most passenger vehicles, at least in the front, if only to be able to see where you are in your lane.
14
But then again, wouldn't a sport wagon like that eventually become rare and surge in auction price?
10
@richardstuivenberg4618 so that's why Citroëns have those rubber things
8
This is why Toyota had their Scion division. They could do weird stuff, then everyone would get the stuff, and they could do new weird stuff while regular Toyotas adopted the newly normal features.

@tylerwitmer3769 Let alone manuals, we need to save the tiny quirky cars.

Given it's incredibly light and small compared to rivals, it's got a really powerful turbocharger on a tiny engine, and it has user-adjustable all-wheel drive, I'd love to see this thing tested on dirt and gravel. The GR Corolla seems like it'd be one of the best rally-ish cars for daily driving, and I want to know how it measures up in the other half of that equation.
4
What I don't understand is a) why all the buttons are still plastic, and b) why they didn't add the option for fogging all the windows, not just the sunroof. Much classier than the curtains.
3
Could you review the Skoda Fabia? I think it was recently redesigned, and Skoda is almost famous at this point for their uncanny ability to stuff crazy amounts of room into small cars. Also the ID3 would be cool to see a review of, and they even made a budget model which came out before the actual one.
3
@davetheplugpalumbo1621 it looks like someone had an old Apple II, and a used Oldsmobile, and just went to town.
3
To be fair, the Unimog isn't exactly that much more aerodynamic forwards than in reverse
3
But if you press both shifters at once and then hit the power button, it activates the auto-drive feature.
3
With the kind of money I'd want, I'd convince Benz to move the partition slightly back so I could comfortably attempt to drive it occasionally.
3
From the interior, for some reason it looks like it's a huge, high-end golf cart. I actually love the golf carts' design, with smaller wheels and an open cabin with or without a roof, but I think it's cool they carried parts of that over to cars.
2
As is the fact that he can actually fit into the back of this Ferrari.
2
Despite the odd design choices, I do like the way the curvature's highest point is closer to the front of the car. It makes it look almost like it's moving in the way a fast car moves in old cartoons and comics. I would seriously like to see these things deliver mail one day.
2
If you got the right year it's basically the same car
2
@MiguelRPD No it's a Kei car for the Texan market.
2
This thing isn't really for urban areas. It's built for suburbs, especially outer ones, where you won't find charging stations and you'll be commuting on smaller main roads a lot.
2
It looks like that's where the battery is going to go on a future electric or PHEV model. Those compartments are definitely standing in for something at least.
2
What puzzles me is that this is actually a relatively successful vehicle. I've seen two at the mall near where I live.
2
Remember that Mercedes-Benz is not necessarily an exclusively luxury brand in Europe, but in the US it is. They're probably massively overpricing this vehicle to keep up. Or they're about to replace or discontinue the model.
2
Pro tip: don't put just any engine in an Ariel Atom.
2
It really shouldn't need any more than that to get up to speed even up easy hills. 120 has well served hatches twice the size of this.
2
@DevinWasTakenWasTaken Yeah, but does the G70 have a 25ft^2 hatch?
2
@thomas_2285 but it looks just like the GTC4Lusso.
2
IMO, it's an Impreza.
2
Is he the party-bus kind of van owner, or the live-in-NYC-without-going-broke kind of van owner?
2
Nothing screams badass mom more than a Chevrolet HHR with the same engine as the Fisker Karma.
2
@trevor4533 I think they are, but then again the i30 is part of the ix0 line of hatchbacks, which generally are very successful in other markets.
2
@davidfrench5407 Why else do you think those doors can be lockin'?
2
This thing looks like it would drive away after you got out, and would drive back to pick you up later.
2
I understand why some people might be very disappointed with all the carryover parts from the 370, but then again, there's a legitimate reason why the 370Z was so long-lived.
2
In Australia they have a word for this market segment, and GM even made one—a ute. This, therefore, is a midsized, raised ute.
2
It looks like a better Honda Insight, which is what I think they were going for.
2
It's a Ferrari, so it gets a pass due to its comparison.
1
I was afraid they would use the redesign to turn it into a Forester clone, but I'm glad all they did was make it look more like their new Levorg and Legacy.
1
They literally make passenger airplanes for the ground now. Terrafugia is a thing.
1
@joelchils engines with low cylinder counts need a lot of air pumping through them and a very high fire rate, and that means lots of exhaust
1
@DarknessViper99 Or buy a mini projector and project your media onto your house or a billboard or a screen or a bedsheet.
1
That window design is still present on many MPVs in Europe, and on the Suzuki SX4.
1
The main selling point of the Hilux (and to an extent also the Hiace) is its environmental resistance. They will get you and all your gear from place to place, whether that place is a humid salt flat or a frozen tundra. The 90s models are still around today for this reason.
1
@Eric-gq6ip Wasn't the Blade just the Auris? Which we get.
1
Why does this car have simpler rear-seat heating controls than front ones? Those buttons are tiny and there's absolutely no reason not to put two more in the front.
1
In my opinion, the Model Y is not a true SUV or crossover, but is actually a hatchback version of the Model 3. Almost every expaneion made to the body of the car can be justified as adding more area for cargo space and then fixing the abrupt taper that would create. They may as well have called it the Model 3X, or the Model 3 Cargo or the Model 3 Crossback, but they didn't, thus prolonging the life of the hatchback without anyone noticing.
1
I want this with an engine from a Honda Civic. The thing would probably go 0 to 62 in about 1.9 with the base Civic's engine.
