In today's Guardian, Simon Jenkins wrote an article about the monarchy and one line stuck out. "Separating the headship of a state from elected office has, on the whole, proved a sound constitutional principle. Failure to do so is currently tearing the US apart." Would you agree with him Ian? What I see happening is the good ship Trump is acting as a sea anchor in that it is pulling the constitutional American republic under the waves by a charismatic former President who knows how to play the emotional strings of popularism. His alternative facts cum rhetoric is dividing a nation that has been fragilized by having a mentally unstable former president who is still stirring up public dissent merely by being on the scene.
