  1. Let's face it Ian, the Chinese balloon was bait on a hook to catch a sucker. The Chinese may not seem discreet in their latest capo, but they don't do things like that without a clear battle-plan behind it. The US puts more bases in the Philippines, the Chinese roll out plan 'C' or ... and rather than laugh it off as President Biden could have done and I am sure his instincts told to do and what I am sure you firmly believe he should have done, he had to cave in to fearmongers on both sides of the isle. Silly things can work wonders on untrained minds, and had not so many nervous advisors been spooked by the marshmellow in the sky, this would have been brushed off like lint on a suitcoat. But no; now the Chinese have the upper hand in the next close-call aircraft incident or---and I am guessing---a bavure that sinks a Taiwanese vessel or of the sort. Yes; that's right----they will get away with something that isn't a puff ball floating like soap bubbles in the sky. The Secretary of State should have gone to China to meet XI and not even mentioned it! Prepare now we must for Putin getting surprise Chinese military support on his up-coming spring offensive.
